KU wraps up
regular season with losses at Wilmington
April 27, 2008
WILMINGTON, Del. - Kutztown
wrapped up its regular season with a doubleheader loss at Wilmington
on Sunday. Game scores were 6-3 and 13-11.
Kutztown (25-23) now prepares for the
PSAC Championship tournament, Wednesday-Saturday at Clipper Magazine
Stadium in Lancaster, Pa.
Game 1
Wilmington
(Del.) 6, Kutztown 3
BOXSCORE
Kutztown couldn't
hang on to an early 3-0 lead, falling to the Wildcats 6-3 in the
opening game of a doubleheader at Wilmington Sunday.
Matt Kulbacki
had a two-run home run and Mark Renda had a run-scoring
single for a 3-0 lead in the second. The Wildcats, however,
knotted it up by the fourth, and took the lead for good with a
three-spot in the bottom of the fifth.
James Quigley
was 2-for-3, while Kulbacki finished 1-for-3.
Jason Herr
(0-2) was the losing pitcher, in relief.
Game 2
Wilmington (Del.) 13, Kutztown 11
BOX SCORE
Wilmington scored
three runs in the bottom of the fifth to break a 10-10 tie and
complete the sweep of Kutztown Sunday.
Kutztown trailed
10-6 heading into the top of the fifth before storming back. Andy
May hit a two-run double, then scored on Dom Fantanarosa's
double. Fantanarosa later scored on an error to
make it 10-10.
Wilmington scored
three times in its half of the fifth to re-take the lead. In
KU's sixth, Mike Dugan hit a sacrifice fly, but the Golden
Bears could not rally further.
Chad Lightcap
was 2-for-5 with three RBI, including a three-run double in the
second inning. Dugan was 2-for-3 with two RBI.
May was 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Nole Saylor
and Fantanarosa each scored twice.
Anthony Fegely
(1-1) was the pitcher of record for KU.
