LANCASTER,

—
James Quigley's RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning
gave KU an 8-7 win, allowing the KU baseball team to advance to the
championship round of the PSAC championship Friday night at Clipper
Magazine Stadium.
KU (28-24)
advances to face West Chester, who had defeated the Bears earlier
Friday, 1-0. KU must defeat the unbeaten Rams twice to claim
the PSAC crown. Millersville (24-26) is eliminated.
Quigley finished
2-for-4 with three RBIs, including his first collegiate home run.
Trailing 7-6 in the
eighth, Mike Kacelowicz laced a double down the left-field
line. Jared Frey followed with his own double down the
line, driving in Kacelowicz for the tying run.
Pinch runner
Bryan Riggins, who replaced Frey, scored on Quigley's single
through the left side, giving KU the lead.
In the top of the
ninth, Millersville threatened again. A walk and infield single gave
the Marauders runners at the first two with one out. After Kent Gerdes
beat out a potential game-ending double play, KU hurler Trent
Mertz got pinch hitter Andrew Dochterman to fly out to end the
game.
Millersville took a 2-0 lead
in the top of the first on a sac fly and RBI single by Brett Rhoads.
Quigley's two-run homer tied it in the bottom of the first.
The Marauders
regained the lead
with three runs in the top of the second on back-to-back RBI doubles
by Lance Miller and Corey Phelan.
The Marauders did
not relinquish that lead until the eight inning. KU cut it to
5-4 with two runs in the third on Mike Dugan's two-run
single, but Millersville went back up 7-4 with a two-spot in its half of the
fourth.
KU again cut the
lead to one in the fifth with a two-run pinch hit double by Matt Kulbacki, and the score
remained that way until the eighth inning
rally.
Ryan Cassidy
(2-2) was the winning pitcher, throwing three scoreless innings of
relief. Mertz got his second save, with a scoreless ninth.
Dugan was 3-for-3
with two RBIs. Corey Buletza scored twice.
Andrew Clemens (4-4)
took the loss for Millersville.
