Freshman Corey Buletza
(fr. St. Clair/Pottsville) was 5-for-5, drove in two and scored
three runs to lead Kutztown to an 8-1 win over PSAC inter-division
foe Shippensburg Wednesday at North Campus Field.

Buletza, who had five
singles, was one of five Golden Bears with multiple hits.
Mike Kacelowicz (so. Orwigsburg/Blue
Mountain)
was 3-for-6 with a pair of doubles and two RBI.
Jared Frey (so. Mohrsville/Schuylkill
Valley)
was 3-for-5 with an RBI.
Chad Lightcap (jr.
Boyertown/Boyertown)
was 2-for-3, while
Mark Renda (r-fr. Lansdale/North
Penn) was 2-for-5 with an RBI.
Ryan Cassidy
(so. Langhorne/Archbishop Wood),
who moves to 1-1 on the season, pitched five
innings, allowing six hits and one unearned run with five strikeouts. Justin
Jachowicz (sr. Summit Hill/Panther Valley)
and
Mike Bucklin (so.
Shillington/Governor Mifflin)
each hurled two scoreless innings.
KU broke a 1-1 tie in the fourth
when Frey doubled in Kacelowicz. Frey
later scored on a Buletza single.
The Golden Bears then broke it open
with three runs in the seventh, on a sacrifice fly by Andy May, an
RBI single by Renda and a run-scoring double by Kacelowicz.
KU closed the scoring in the bottom
of the eighth with Buletza's fifth hit and second RBI single.
He scored on an error later in the inning.
Shippensburg was led by Tyler
Redick and Kyle Rhoades, who had two hits each. Rick Shumway
was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Thomas Ashlman (2-3) was the losing
pitcher, allowing 11 hits and three runs over five innings.
KU will return to action on
Friday with a PSAC East doubleheader at Millersville.
