KU's game against West Virginia State moved to 9 a.m. Friday
WEST LAWN, Pa. — The
Kutztown University baseball team's game against West Virginia State
has been postponed due to heavy rain Thursday night at Owls Field.
Game 2 of the NCAA Division II
Atlantic Regionals will be moved to 9 a.m. Friday.
As a result of the postponement, Game
4 and 5 will be switched to keep any team from having to play
back-to-back games on Friday.
Following Game 2 between KU and West
Virginia State, Game 5 between West Chester and Shepherd at noon.
Game 4 between Concord and the loser of Game 2 will be played at
3:30 p.m. Game 6 between Mercyhurst and the winner of Game 2 will be
played at 7 p.m.
KU's games on Friday will both be
available online via audio Webcast on the Golden Bear Network.

The Kutztown
University baseball team was selected as the No. 2 seed in the
Atlantic Regional tournament and won the bid to host the four-day
event at Owls Field at Ted Palka Park in West Lawn, Pa.
This will be the
first Division II regional hosted at Owls Field, one of
Pennsylvania’s best American Legion baseball stadiums.
The four-day
regional will begin on Thursday, May 14, and it will include several
Berks County natives, highlighted by
Chad Lightcap (sr. Boyertown/Boyertown),
Shayne Houck (fr. Barto/Boyertown)
and
Matt Cotellese.
Cotellese, a member
of No. 1-seeded West Chester (42-10), will take the field in the
opening game of the tournament when the Golden Rams take on No.
6-seeded Concord (27-13) at noon.
Lightcap and Houck will compete in Game
2 of the tournament when they lead KU (33-15) against the No. 5
seed, West Virginia State (31-13), at 7 p.m. Other Golden Bears from
Berks County include
Trent Mertz
(so. Kutztown/Kutztown),
Anthony
Fegely (so. Exeter/Exeter),
Kevin
Morganti (jr. Reading/Muhlenberg),
Jared Frey (jr.
Mohrsville/Schuylkill Valley),
Brad Stoudt
(fr. Mertztown/Brandywine Heights)
and
Mike Bucklin
(jr. Shillington/Governor Mifflin).
No. 4-seeded Mercyhurst (35-15) will play No.
3-seeded Shepherd (33-16) in Game
3, which will be played before Game 2 at 3:30 p.m.

Owls Field is
comprised of elevated terraces on both the right and left field
lines, which is designed for “lawn chair” viewing. There are no
bleachers in the stadium, so fans attending the tournament are
encouraged to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets for a comfortable
view of the games.
Daily tickets are
$4 for students and seniors, and $8 for adults. Tournament passes
will be $15 for students and seniors, and $25 for adults. Children 6
years of age and younger will be admitted for free throughout the
tournament. Children 7 years of age and older will be charged as
students.
Owls Field is welcoming to left-handed batters with dimensions down
the right field line at 305 feet. The field is 360 feet in left
field, 385 in left-center, 415 in center and 375 in right-center.
