Three homers help KU win 15-7 at Penn State-Berks

READING, Pa. — Jared Frey (jr. Mohrsville/Schuylkill Valley), Shayne Houck (fr. Barto/Boyertown) and Chad Lightcap (sr. Boyertown/Boyertown) all hit home runs as the Kutztown University baseball team defeated Penn State-Berks 15-7 Tuesday.

The Golden Bears (27-9) scored seven runs in the top of the second and added four more in the fourth en route to a 12-0 lead.

Mark Renda (so. Lansdale/North Penn) finished 3-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored. Michael Dugan (so. Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City) drove in two runs and scored once.

Houck and Lightcap hit solo homers, while Jared Frey hit a three-run homer.

Brad Stoudt (fr. Mertztown/Brandywine Heights) had three RBIs and Cody Montz (fr. Schuylkill Haven/Schuylkill Haven) had two hits and scored two runs.

Anthony Fegely (so. Exeter/Exeter) started on the mound for KU, allowing just two hits and two walks over three innings. Matt Patteson (fr. Lebanon/Cedar Crest) earned the win, pitching in the four and fifth inning.

The Golden Bears will travel to Columbia Union for a non-conference doubleheader at 1 p.m. Thursday.
