Kulbacki scores game-winning run,
KU wins 10-9
KUTZTOWN, Pa.

Kulbacki (jr. Hershey/Hershey) doubled in the tying run and
scored game-winner as the Kutztown University baseball team bounced
back to defeat Wilmington (Del.) University 10-9 Thursday at North
Campus Field.
Kulbacki finished 3-for-5 with two RBIs
and three runs scored.
His RBI double in the bottom of the
eighth erased the lead Wilmington took in the top half, scoring six
runs as KU committed three errors in the inning.
Kulbacki scored on a sacrifice by
Jeff
Kistle (so. Sandyston, N.J./Kittatinny), who finished
2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.
The Golden Bears (17-5) held an 8-3 lead
heading into the eighth before the Wildcats (10-8) rallied back.
The Wildcats led early, scoring three
runs over the first four innings.
The Golden Bears didn't crack the
scoreboard until they strung together six straight two-out hits in
the fifth to take a 5-3 lead.
Shayne
Houck (fr. Boyertown/Boyertown), who finished 3-for-3,
sparked the two-out fifth-inning rally with one of his three infield
singles.
Michael
Dugan (so. Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City), who finished
2-for-3 with a run scored, hit a two-run double to the fence in left
field to give KU the 4-3 lead.
Chad
Lightcap (sr. Boyertown/Boyertown), who was 2-for-4, drove
in a run and scored in the fifth inning and hit a solo home run to
lead off the seventh, sparking a three-run rally.
Jason Herr
(so. Harrisburg/C.D. East) came in relief of
Jordan
Smith (so. New Milford/Blue Ridge) to pitch the final 1 2/3
innings and earn the win. Smith pitched 3 1/3 innings in relief of
starter
Kevin
Morganti (sr. Reading/Muhlenberg).
KU will return to action at 1 p.m.
Friday with a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East
doubleheader at Mansfield. The Golden Bears will return home to
complete the four-game series with the Mountaineers with a
doubleheader at 1 p.m. Saturday.
