Over the last several weeks, KU head football coach Raymond Monica has announced the signing of a number of student-athletes who will join the program in 2008.

KU FOOTBALL ANNOUNCES INITIAL MEMBERS OF 2008 RECRUITING CLASS 

KUTZTOWN, PA – Kutztown University head football coach Raymond Monica has announced that 26 student-athletes have signed national letters of intent to join the Golden Bear football program.  

            The members of the 2008 Golden Bear football recruiting class are: 

            Karolis Bimba (Warrington/Central Bucks South HS) – a 6-2, 235 pound defensive lineman.  Bimba was a first-team all-league defensive lineman, while also earning second-team honors as an offensive lineman.  His major at KU is undeclared.

           Alex DiNolfi (Norristown/Norristown) - a 5-9, 165-pound safety, DiNolfi was a First Team All-League Suburban One wide receiver. He also was named to the league's third team as a safety. He was a Second Team Times Herald All-Area wide receiver and the team's Defensive Player of the Year. He finished the 2007 season with 26 catches for 542 yards and six TDs. He had six interceptions at safety with two forced fumbles and three recoveries. He will major in sports management.

           Tyler Floyd (Halifax/Halifax) - a 6-0, 185-pound tailback from, Floyd is a four-year letter-winner, who was named a first-team running back in the Tri-Valley League in 2006 and 2007. He also was the league's MVP and offensive player of the year in 2007. He also was an Upper Dauphin Sentinel Player of the Year. His major at KU is currently undecided.

            Tyler Groves (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East)- Tyler, a 6-1 220 linebacker, earned three letters at Toms River East, as well as All-Division in his junior and senior seasons. His senior year, Groves was also named to the All-Ocean County and All-Shore teams.

            Skyler Hunt (Harrisburg/Red Land HS) – a 5-11, 180 pound quarterback.  Hunt was a two-time All-Sentinal selection and Mid-Penn Keystone MVP for the 2006 District 3 AAA Champions.  His major is business administration with a minor in leisure and sport studies.

          Charles Isamoyer (Kutztown/ Northwestern Lehigh)- a 6-2, 240 pound defensive end, Charles earned a varsity letter his senior season, as well as a district championship medal, and achieved high honor roll status at Northwestern Lehigh. Charles will enter KU as a secondary education-social studies major.

            Matt Kaminskas (Wayne/Conestoga HS) – a 6-3, 235 pound defensive lineman.  Kaminskas was a 2006 honorable mention All-Central League and All-Main Line selection.  He was a team captain and was the 2007 Matt Gibson Award Winner as most inspirational teammate.  Kaminskas will major in secondary education-history.

            Robert Kee (Lansdale/Central Bucks South HS) – a 6-2, 275 pound offensive lineman.  Klee was a first-team all-state, All-Intelligencer and all-league selection for CB South.  His major at KU is undeclared.

            Jeff Keller (Downingtown/Coatesville HS) – a 6-5, 275 pound offensive lineman.  Keller was a two-year starter and was picked to play in the 2008 Valor Bowl. His major at KU is undeclared.

            Brandon Kline (Lebanon/Cedar Crest HS) – a 6-5, 240 pound defensive lineman.  Kline was a first-team All-Lebanon County selection as an offensive lineman.  He also excelled at wrestling, earning all-section honors.  His major at KU is undeclared.

  Kaleb Klosky (Clarion/ Clarion-Limestone)- a 6-3, 210-pound tight end, Kaleb was first team all-conference his senior season, and was a three-time district nine champion and four-time KSAC title winner. Klosky is undecided on a major at KU.

           Robert Knopf (Stroudsburg/Pocono Mountain East)- Knopf, a 6-3, 285 pound defensive tackle, was named all-area his senior season. Robert is also an honor roll student who will major in secondary education-mathematics.

           Lance Malatak (Jim Thorpe/Jim Thorpe)- Malatak, a 6-3, 245 guard, was named third-team All-State by the Pennsylvania Football News, as well as All-Anthracite and Lineman of the year. The Pottsville Republican and Times News also honored Lance as a first team selection. Malatak is undecided on a major.

            Bill McMonigle (Drexel Hill/Cardinal O’Hara HS) – a 6-2, 225 pound defensive lineman.  McMonigle was a four-year letter winner, and earned All-Delaware County and All-Catholic League honors.  His major at KU is undeclared.

            Woody Miller (Ephrata/Ephrata HS) – a 6-2, 225 pound fullback/linebacker.  Miller was an honorable mention selection as a fullback, and earned four varsity letters.  His major at KU is undeclared.

            Kevin Morton (Roslyn/Abington HS) – a 6-1, 195 pound quarterback.  Morton was a first-team All-Suburban One League and third-team All-State selection.  He also earned a Maxwell Football Club Award. His major at KU is undeclared.

           Michael Mottola (Belvidere, N.J./Belvidere) - a 5-9, 190-pound running back/defensive back, Mottola was the Express Times Player of the Year in 2007. He also was named to the All-State Group 1 First Team, the All-West Jersey First Team and the All-Conference First Team. He will major in business at KU.

            Nick Palmer (Media/Penncrest HS) – a 6-2, 275 pound offensive lineman.  Palmer earned all-county and all-league honors.  He also received a Maxwell Football club Mini Maxwell Award.  His major at KU is undeclared.

        Ryan Stephen Phares (Richboro/Council Rock South)- The 6-1, 210-pound tailback was a four-year letter winner at Council Rock South and named to the PIAA 2nd Team All-State team and was honored with the prestigious Mini Maxwell Award Winner. As a junior and senior, Phares was named the MVP of Suburbn I.Phares will major in business at KU.

            Anthony Prescott (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East HS) – a 5-9, 190 pound defensive back.  Prescott comes to KU via Dean Community College in Franklin, Mass.  He was an all-conference selection while at Cherry Hill East, and set the New England prep school record in the 4x400 relay as a member of the St. Thomas More track team.  Prescott will major in criminal justice at KU.

            Logan Sheely (Carlisle/Cumberland Valley HS) – a 6-0, 170 pound defensive back.  Sheely was a second-team All-Sentinel selection, two-year letter winner, team captain and was named a Mid-State Top 100 Player.  His major at KU is pre-engineering.

            Colby Snyder (Elysburg/Southern Columbia HS) – a 6-2, 200 pound wide receiver.  Snyder was a first-team All-State Class A selection as an offensive specialist.  He was selected to various all-star teams by the Press Enterprise, WNEP Channel 16, Daily Item and News Item .  Snyder plans to major in electronic media.

            Jordan Thomas (Phoenixville/Phoenixville HS) -  a 5-8, 165 pound defensive back.  Thomas was an All-PAC 10 strong safety, earning second team honors as a running back as well.  He was a three-year varsity letter winner.  Thomas will major in communications at KU.

            Colby Tuell (Columbia/Columbia HS) – a 5-10, 165 pound wide receiver.  Tuell earned first-team honors, as both a receiver and defensive back, for the Lancaster-Lebanon League.  He will major in communications at KU.

            Eric Weiss (Hellertown/Bethlehem Catholic)- a 6-3, 225 pound defensive end, Weiss earned three varsity letters in high school. His major at KU is currently undecided.

           Matt Young (Mohrsville/Schuylkill Valley) - a 5-10, 180 pound defensive back, Young earned four varsity letters in football and baseball. In his sophomore season, he was named All-Berks county defensive back. In 2006 and 2007, Matt was named All-Berks as a quarterback. Matt will enter KU majoring in business.

            Monica expects additional recruits to be announced in the near future.
