After a
scoreless first frame, Martin engineered the first scoring drive
of the season. He had a 22-yard run and a 36-yard
completion to Jason Uhlig to set up the scoring strike to
Klosky on a fade into the end zone.
Following a St.
Anselm punt, KU needed two fourth down conversions, a 7-yard run
by Strauss and a 16-yard pass by Martin, to set up the QB's
scoring run.
KU almost went
scored again before halftime, but Mark Colantonio intercepted
Martin's pass at the goal line with 17 seconds left to keep it
14-0 at the break.
Dontay
Wilson's first TD capped a quick four-play drive early in
the third. KU then marched 90 yards on seven plays, ending
in Strauss' TD run, early in the fourth.
Wilson capped
the scoring on KU's next possession, barreling into the line of
scrimmage before rolling away and scampering 45 yards untouched
to paydirt.
The Hawks, which
had just four passing yards until the fourth quarter and
finished with just 33, drove into KU territory twice in the
final frame. However, KU's defense stiffened to preserve
the shutout. Kevin Branco blew up an option attempt
and dove on the loose ball to stop the first drive, then
Kevin Bolinsky recovered a loose ball after Craig Croman
sacked Marc Wilson and forced the fumble.
Bolinsky paced
the defense with 10 tackles. Sam McKellar added
nine and David Cressman notched eight. Cory
Porrino had an interception and Croman had a pair of sacks.
Dan Bohenek led
SAC's defense with 12 tackles, including a sack, with and a
fumble recovery.
