48-10-1. The Golden Bears won last year’s contest, 31-13 at Cheyney. Kutztown overcame an early 13-7 deficit to turn back
the Wolves. Cheyney’s last victory over Kutztown was a 31-19
decision in 1993.
Kutztown fell into a 21-0 hole before
slicing West Chester’s advantage to 24-17 entering the fourth
quarter. Redshirt freshman quarterback Kevin Morton
(Abington/Abington) had a solid debut, completing 23-of-38
passes for 238 yards. Freshman wide receiver Chris McCormick

with three of them for losses.
Kutztown will look to unleash senior
running back Dontay Wilson (Stamford, CT/Stamford).

two games against Bloomsburg and West Chester. He needs 118
yards to become the 10th player in Kutztown football
history to reach 2,000 for his career. Wilson is the third
leading rusher in the PSAC (88.6). Cheyney is last in the PSAC
in rushing defense (278.4).
In addition to Wilson, the Golden Bears
have several additional players ranked among the top 10 in the
PSAC in various categories. Junior kick returner Kendell
Coleman (Philadelphia/Martin Luther King) is third in kick
return average (27.1). Junior kicker Matt Dineen (Wilmington,
DE/Concord) is second in punting average (41.6) and field
goals made per game (1.60). Irwin is fifth in tackles (9.8).

Chambers is one of the top players in
the PSAC. He is tied for eighth in tackles (8.8) and 17th
in sacks (2.0). Stan Banks leads Cheyney with two interceptions.
Cheyney’s strength has been its pass defense. The Wolves are
third in the PSAC (159.6) in that category and they have
intercepted six passes. Hunter is seventh in the PSAC in
all-purpose yards (108.2). The Wolves leading receiver is John
Newman with 10 catches for 66 yards. Travis Taltoan has caught
Cheyney’s only touchdown pass of the season.

points in their loss to Lincoln (Pa.). Overall, Cheyney has scored 44 points through five games, an average of
8.8 per outing. Cheyney has not scored a point in 10 consecutive
periods.
