Jody Cwik (1955-2006)

The Kutztown University football program mourns the
loss of Jody Cwik, assistant football coach and 1978 KU
graduate, who passed away on Friday, Oct. 27, at the age of 51.
Coach Cwik was in the second
season of his second stint with the Kutztown University coaching staff. Cwik
began his coaching career at then Kutztown State College, as an assistant
freshman coach in 1977. He received his bachelor’s degree from Kutztown in
1978 in secondary education, and his master’s in education in 1987. Cwik
served as head coach at Pottstown High School from 1998-2003 and at Freedom
High School in Bethlehem from 1988-93. He was an assistant at both schools
(Pottstown, 1996-97; Freedom, 1980-87) before taking over the reigns as head
coach. He also was an assistant coach at Emmaus (1995), Wilson {Easton}
(1994) and Reading (1979). Cwik taught in the Bethlehem Area School
District.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday (11/3) at 9
a.m. in Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Reading. Burial will be
at Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. Friends may call Wednesday
(11/1) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden St.,
Bethlehem, PA 18018, and Thursday (11/2) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in
Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Ave. West Reading, PA
19611.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer
Society, 498 Bellevue Ave. Reading, PA 19605
