BOXSCORE
KUTZTOWN, Pa.
— Andre Woodlin (jr. Philadelphia/Central) scored a
career-high
22 points to lead the Kutztown University men’s basketball team in a
97-68 rout of Bloomsburg Saturday at Keystone Hall.

Woodlin |
Nate Edwards
(so. Philadelphia/Northeast Catholic) and Dave Ben (jr.
Coatesville/Coatesville) also reached double digits for KU
scoring 17 apiece, while Stephen Dennis (so. West
Chester/Henderson) finished with 13 points.
With the win, KU
remains in a tie with Cheyney for first place in the Pennsylvania
State Athletic Conference Eastern Division. The Golden Bears have
clinched a playoff spot and with a win Wednesday at Millersville,
KU can secure a home playoff game in the first round of the playoffs.
KU (16-7, 8-1 PSAC
East) and Bloomsburg (8-15, 0-9 PSAC East) traded baskets to start
the game, but with the Golden Bears leading 13-12, their offense
came alive and went on a 21-8 run to take a 34-20 lead with 5:04
left in the first half. KU led by as many as 17 in the first, but a
late run by Bloomsburg narrowed the margin to 12 at halftime with
the Golden Bears leading 45-33.
The Huskies cut it
to 11 with 18:35 remaining in the second half, but that was as close
as they got as KU used a 16-6 run midway through the period to put
Bloomsburg away.
Edwards hit three
3-pointers for the Golden Bears and had four steals, while Ben led
the team in rebounding with eight and assists with five. Ben also
had a 7-for-12 showing at the free-throw line.
KU went to the line
31 times, converting on 21 of its attempts.
Bloomsburg was led
by Nick Jones, who had a game-high 26 points. Teammates Buddy Rose
and Niko Traykov each finished with 12 points.
The 97 points were
the most points scored by KU since Dec. 6, 2006, when the Golden
Bears won 100-88 at Columbia Union. It was the fourth time this
season and the second straight game that KU has scored at least 90
points.
The Golden Bears
will be back in action at 8 p.m. Wednesday for another PSAC East
contest against Millersville. In their last meeting, KU won 78-60 on
Jan. 23. A win would guarantee the Golden Bears either a No. 1 or 2
seed in the PSAC tournament.
