KUTZTOWN, Pa.
— Dave Ben (jr. Coatesville/Coatesville), who was honored
in his first game at Keystone Hall since collecting his 1,000th career point on Dec. 29, posted a double-double
Saturday as the Kutztown University men’s basketball team routed
Indiana (Pa.) 94-65.
Ben
scored a team-high 21 points and had 11 rebounds in the Pennsylvania
State Athletic Conference crossover. Ben, who was one of four KU
players in double digits, also hit three 3-pointers and had four
assists.
Stephen Dennis
(so. West Chester/Henderson) scored 20 points, while Nate
Edwards (so. Philadelphia/Northeast Catholic) and Andre
Woodlin (jr. Philadelphia/Central) each had 14.
KU (6-4) used a
13-3 run to take a 23-13 lead with 10:33 remaining in the first
half. The Golden Bears, who shot 48.4 percent from the floor in the
first half, extended their lead to 45-25 at halftime. KU
caught fire from the floor shots in the second half, draining 57.6 percent of their
attempts.
The Golden Bears
hit 8-of-20 3-pointers, including Edwards’ 3-for-4 performance from
beyond the arc.
Darryl Webb and
Gerald Brooks led the Crimson Hawks (7-4) with 19 and 18 points,
respectively. Shooting just 38.8 percent from the floor and committing 19
turnovers contributed to IUP's third loss in its last four games.
The Golden Bears
have now won their last three contests against the Crimson Hawks.
KU will return to
Keystone Hall at 3 p.m. Sunday for another PSAC crossover contest
against Clarion.
