BOX SCORE
KUTZTOWN, PA - The University of the Sciences erased a 14-point
second-half deficit to defeat Kutztown University 87-84 in overtime
at Keystone Hall Thursday night.
Keith
Dundas scored 21 points to lead the Devils (2-1). Charlie Fritsch
scored 19 and grabbed 11 rebounds. Shane Conner added 16.
For
Kutztown (1-2) Dave Ben scored 25 points. Nate Edwards
scored 17, Stephen Dennis scored 15 and Andre Woodlin
added 13.
Kutztown led 62-48 with 8:08 left in the second half before USP
stormed back. After a 21-8 run pulled the Devils within one with
1:51 left, Ben's steal and layup gave KU a three-point lead. Jarrod
Frazier hit a layup with 50 seconds left, and after a KU miss, the
Devils took their first lead of the game on a tip in by Curtis Fitch
with 13 seconds left for a 73-72 lead. Ben drew a foul on
the ensuing possession and hit 1-of-2 from the line to send it to
overtime.
In
the extra period, the score was tied four times before Adewale
Adefemi hit two free throws with 36 seconds left for a 84-82 lead.
KU missed a layup on its possession, and Fritsch hit two free
throws. Edwards' jumper made it 87-84 with two seconds
left, but USP ran out the final two ticks for the win.
Kutztown returns to
action this weekend with PSAC crossovers at Shippensburg Saturday
and at Lock Haven Sunday.
