Stephen Dennis (jr. West Chester/Henderson)
each scored 25 points to extend the Kutztown University men's
basketball team's winning streak to 13 games with a 105-74 win over
Bloomsburg University Saturday.
The Golden Bears,
who clinched the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East title
last Wednesday, will host No. 4-seeded Mansfield University in a
PSAC quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday at Keystone Hall. The game time
is set for 7 p.m. Cheyney, the No. 2 seed, will host third-seeded
West Chester in the other PSAC quarterfinal. The two winners will
head to the highest remaining West seed for the PSAC Final Four.
Ryan Washington (so. Philadelphia/Wissahickon)
scored 17 points and had eight rebounds for the Golden Bears, who
jumped out to an early lead and never let it go.
Bloomsburg (4-23,
1-13 PSAC East) cut it to five points with 7:15 left in the first
half, but KU (24-3, 13-1 PSAC East) used a 26-12 run to take a 51-32
lead into halftime.
Dave Ben (sr. Coatesville/Coatesville)
had
11 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.
Julius Gray (so. Lincoln/Oxford)
also had a big day, hitting three 3-pointers for KU. The Golden
Bears made 12-of-23 3-point attempts in the game. Woodlin led the
way with five, while Dennis hit three and Ben hit one.
Woodlin also pulled
down nine rebounds and have five assists.
Notes: The
win for KU pushes the school record for wins in a season to 24 and
record for division wins to 13. ... KU's 105 points is the third
time this season the Golden Bears have hit the century mark, second
time in PSAC East play. ... KU will enter the playoffs for the
seventh straight season under coach Bernie Driscoll, who has
recorded double-digit winnings seasons in each of the last seven
years.
