in win over WCU clinch home playoff game for KU

CHESTER, Pa. —
Stephen Dennis (jr. West Chester/Henderson)
scored a game-high 26 points as the Kutztown University men's
basketball team clinched a home playoff game with a 77-67 win over
West Chester University Wednesday at Keystone Hall.
Dennis was one of four Golden Bears
in double-digits, leading KU to its 10th straight Pennsylvania State
Athletic Conference East win. KU (21-3, 10-1 PSAC East) also tied
the school record for overall and PSAC East wins in a single season.
Ryan Washington (so. Philadelphia/Wissahickon) and
Dave Ben
(sr. Coatesville/Coatesville) each had 18 points, and
Washington recorded nine rebounds and six blocks.
Dennis also had
five of KU's 15 blocks.
Andre Woodlin (sr. Philadelphia/Central) rounded out the
double-digit scorers with 10 points.
The Golden Bears
jumped out to a 27-13 lead midway through the first half, but the
Golden Rams cut it to six points at halftime.
KU again built a
double-digit lead, but West Chester made a 10-2 run to cut it to
55-52 with 7:30 left. The Golden Bears, who shot 57.1 percent in the
second half, countered with a 13-5 run to seal the win.
West Chester was
led by Ralph Hegamin and Kehinde Roberts who each had 18 points.
Hegamin pulled down 14 boards and Roberts had 10.
The Golden Bears,
who needs to win two of the final three games to clinch the PSAC
East title, will host Shippensburg in a divisional contest at 3 p.m.
Saturday at Keystone Hall. The PSAC playoffs begin on March 3,
when the Golden Bears will host a quarterfinal game at Keystone
Hall.
