Andre Woodlin (sr. Philadelphia/Central)
scored a team-high 26 points and had 10 rebounds as the Kutztown
University men’s basketball team defeated East Stroudsburg
University 93-70 Saturday at Keystone Hall.
Dave Ben (sr. Coatesville/Coatesville)
also had
25 points, including six 3-pointers, as the Golden Bears won their
seventh straight Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East
contest. The streak ties the school's record for consecutive
divisional wins, equaled by the 1987-88 PSAC East Champion squad.
Stephen Dennis (jr. West Chester/Henderson)
had 18 points for KU, which used a 25-7 run to take a 29-point lead
with 13:10 left.
Dennis also had nine rebounds and six
assists. Woodlin tied his career-high in assists with seven.
The Golden Bears (18-3, 7-1 PSAC East) fell behind 15-6 early in the first
half, but after head coach Bernie Driscoll called a 30-second timeout, KU went
on a 13-4 run to tie the game at 19-19 with 12:35 left in the half.
KU continued to run, outscoring East
Stroudsburg on an 18-5 spurt to take a 10-point lead with less than
three minutes remaining in the first half.
The Golden Bears, who lead the PSAC in
shooting, made 47.8 percent of their shots from the floor.
East Stroudsburg (12-9, 3-5 PSAC East)
was led by Chris Bach, who had 21 points and 12 rebounds. Pat Fleury
had 14 points.
KU will travel to Mansfield for a 7:30
p.m. PSAC East contest Wednesday.
