KU finishes 2-1 at Gettysburg Duals

RESULTS

GETTYSBURG, Pa. — The Kutztown University wrestling team finished 2-1 at the Gettysburg Duals Saturday.

KU (7-5-1) defeated Gettysburg 41-9 and Plymouth State 25-15, while falling 18-16 to Wilkes.

Sonny Flood (sr. Southampton/William Tennent), Brett Martinez (jr. Slatington/Northern Lehigh) and David Zeek (jr. Newtown/Council Rock North) led the way, going 3-0 in the respective weight class.

Flood picked up big 10-4 and 9-4 decisions at 174 pounds in KU’s wins, as well as a 3-1 decision in their loss to Wilkes.

Zeek won three major decisions at 165 pounds, and Martinez had two decisions and a win by forfeit at 149.

Scott Snyder (jr. Slatington/Northern Lehigh), at 197, and Eric Sergent (fr. Nazareth/Nazareth), at 184, went 2-0, and John Paukovits (so. Northampton/Northampton), at 141, and Clayton Youtz (fr. Dauphin/Central Dauphin), at 125, finished 2-1.

Bobby Mort (fr. Huntingdon/Huntingdon) and Cory Rutt (fr. Easton/Easton) also picked up wins for KU.

KU will return to the mats on at 7 p.m. Feb. 4 against Millersville.
