LAURINBURG, N.C. — The Kutztown University wrestling team went 1-2 at the East Coast Duals Saturday in Lauringburg, N.C.

Joe Kemmerer (sr. Mountain Top/Crestwood) remained undefeated on the season going 3-0.

David Zeek (jr. Newtown/Council Rock North) also claimed three wins Saturday, but it wasn’t enough as KU went 1-2 as a team.

The Golden Bears defeated Limestone 29-12, but fell 21-20 to Carson-Newman and 42-6 to Newberry, ranked No. 1 in the region.

Kemmerer picked up two technical falls and a decision, extending his winning streak to 31 straight bouts dating back to his national title run in 2006-07. He’s 20-0 on the season.

Zeek improved to 17-3, winning two decisions and a technical fall.

John Paukovits (so. Northampton/Northampton) and Scott Snyder (jr. Slatington/Northern Lehigh) each won two bouts outside of the Newberry match. Paukovits won by major decision against Limestone and by decision against Carson-Newman. Snyder won by decision in both matches.

Chris Chambers (sr. Holland/Council Rock South), Brett Martinez (jr. Slatington/Northern Lehigh) and Bobby Mort (fr. Huntingdon/Huntingdon) also won bouts, with Chambers and Martinez winning decisions and Mort collecting the Golden Bears’ only pin of the day.
