ERIE, Pa. — The Kutztown University wrestling team dropped two contests to Mercyhurst and Gannon Saturday at Mercyhurst.

KU (8-7-1) opened the tri-meet with a 21-17 loss to Mercyhurst and followed it with a 37-3 loss to Gannon.

Scott Snyder (jr. Slatington/Northern Lehigh), at 197 pounds, was the only Golden Bear to go undefeated on the day, winning two decisions. Snyder won a 10-6 decision over Mercyhurst’s Matt Mix to cut KU’s deficit to 18-17, but the Lakers sealed the win as KU's Cory Rutt (fr. Easton/Easton) dropped a hard-fought 6-5 decision to Nathan Sharp

KU got a pin from Bret Martinez (jr. Slatington/Northern Lehigh) at 149,  and major decisions by John Paukovits (so. Northampton/Northampton), at 141, and Sonny Flood (sr. Southampton/William Tennent), at 174.

Snyder won 6-4 over Dave Spinelli in the Golden Bears’ loss to Gannon.

KU will return to the mats when it travels to York for a 7 p.m. meet on Friday.
