The Kutztown University wrestling team will host Muhlenberg
College in its home opener on Saturday afternoon. The match will
begin at 3 p.m. in Keystone Arena.
On the season,
the Golden Bears are 3-2 in dual matches and have had individual
success at the tournaments they have competed in.
At the
Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championship the Golden
Bears had four wrestlers place, with junior Chris Sheetz (Barto/Upper
Perkiomen) leading the team with a third place finish.
Wrestling at 125 pounds, Sheetz had a 3-1 record with a pin at 1
minute, 39 seconds in his opening round.
David Zeek
(Newtown/Council Rock South) and Austin Williams (Pen
Argyl/Pen Argyl) each finished fifth and Scott Snyder
(Slatington/Northern Lehigh) placed sixth.
Wiliams made
a strong debut with a fourth place finish at the Washington and
Jefferson Open on November 14. Alex Depew
(Wilson/Northampton), also a freshman, finished in fifth
place at the 174 weight class.
Muhlenberg
College enters the contest with an 0-3 record overall, which all
took place at the York Duals on December 12.
Following the
match with Muhlenberg, the Golden Bears will be on the road the
next four weekends before finally returning home to host
Franklin & Marshall on February 4 at 7 p.m. in Keystone Arena.
