KU ANNOUNCES SENIOR
ATHLETIC, ACADEMIC AWARDS
KUTZTOWN, PA – The
Kutztown University athletic department announced the recipients of
its senior athletes and senior scholar athletes of the year awards
at the annual all-sport banquet on May 1.
Michael Baldwin (sr. Philadelphia/Dobbins Tech) of the football
team and Alison Maurer (sr. Lewisberry/Northern York) of
track and field team were named the senior athletes of the year,
based on their four-year career athletic accomplishments.
Baldwin and Colleen Healey (sr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River
North), of the field hockey team, received awards as KU’s top
senior scholar-athletes based on a combination of their four-year
career academic and athletic accomplishments.

Baldwin graduated in December with a 3.78 grade-point average
(GPA) as a criminal justice major. He was named to the ESPN the
Magazine Academic All-America second team and first team
Academic All-District in 2005. A three-year co-captain and
four-year starting safety, Baldwin was the 2005 Pennsylvania State
Athletic Conference (PSAC) Defensive Player of the year. He was
named to the All-PSAC East team in 2004 and 2005. Also, Baldwin was
named to the second team Little All-America, first team Daktronics
All-Northeast Region in 2005, the 2004 and 2005 CoSIDA Academic
All-District II first team and a member of the 2003 CoSIDA Academic
All-District II second team.

Maurer is a five-time PSAC Champion thrower for the Golden Bear
track & field team. She won three consecutive PSAC indoor titles in
the 20-lb. weight throw (2004-06) and holds the PSAC indoor
championship record in the event (55-4). Outdoors, she is a
two-time PSAC Champion, winning the 2004 PSAC title in the discus,
and the 2006 crown in the hammer, the first time the event was
contested at the conference meet. She was named the PSAC Most
Valuable Field Athlete at the 2006 Championship. Maurer has
competed at the NCAA Championships four times, twice indoors and
twice outdoors. She earned All-America honors at the 2005 outdoor
championships, placing seventh in the hammer.

Healey
is a fifth-year student at KU, having graduating in 2005 with a 3.72
GPA in elementary education. She is currently pursuing a master’s
degree as a reading specialist. As a senior on the field hockey
team last fall, she was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches
Association (NFHCA) All-America and All-PSAC first teams. She was
also a second-team All-America choice in 2004. Healey is a two-time
PSAC Scholar-Athlete, and a three-time member of the NFHCA Academic
Squad. Healey finished her career with 10 goals and nine assists.
