Lauren Solley ranks among top scorers in
Division II

KUTZTOWN, Pa. (September 24, 2009) -
Lauren
Solley (Oley/Oley Valley) has enjoyed a start half to
the 2009 season and she is tied for third in Division II for goals
per game average (1.29).
The senior forward leads the Kutztown
University field hockey team in scoring with nine goals in eight
games. She set the bar high at the start of the season with
two goals against Merrimack in the season opener and five in a win
over Catawba.
When she isn't scoring, Solley is feeding one of her teammates with a pass to put into
the cage. Solley and her four assists are tied for the team lead,
her 22 overall points are the third highest in the Pennsylvania
State Athletic Conference (PSAC).
Solley and the Golden Bears (7-2, 2-1
PSAC East) will host C.W. Post Saturday on University Field at 1
p.m. before traveling to Mansfield to begin the second half of their
conference schedule.
KU field
hockey remains No. 4 in national poll
KUTZTOWN, Pa. (September 22, 2009) — The Kutztown University
field hockey team maintained its hold on the No. 4 spot of the 2009
Kookaburra/National Field Hockey Coaches Association National poll.
The Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference now makes up the top four spots and seven of the top 10.
Shippensburg and Bloomsburg remain first and second for the
second-straight week, with Shippensburg receiving 12-of-15
first-place votes.
East Stroudsburg jumped from No. 6 to
No. 3, just ahead of the Golden Bears. The University of
Massachusetts Lowell dropped two spots to No. 5.
The Golden Bears, received one
first-place vote, lost in the beginning of the week at home to No. 1
Shippensburg and topped Mansfield 4-3 in overtime.
In the upcoming week, the Golden Bears
(6-2, 1-1 PSAC East) will travel on Tuesday night to take on No. 9
Millersville and host C.W. Post on Saturday afternoon.
KU FIELD
HOCKEY RANKED No. 4 IN DIVISION II
KUTZTOWN, Pa. (September 17, 2009) — The Kutztown University field hockey
team moved up one spot to No.4 in the 2009 Kookaburra/National Field
Hockey Coaches Association National poll released on Monday.
The move up the rankings came after
the Golden Bears historic 2-1 win over then No. 1 ranked
Bloomsburg to open up the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference
Eastern Division play. East Stroudsburg, ranked No. 6,
knocked off the Golden Bears (5-2, 1-1 PSAC East) in overtime on
Saturday
The PSAC represents seven of the
top-10 teams in the national ranking, with Shippensburg and
Bloomsburg ranked No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. The University
of Massachusetts-Lowell ranks in third, followed by KU and
Stonehill is fifth to round out the top five.
KU will return to the field at 1 p.m.
Saturday at
University Field for a PSAC East contest against Mansfield
University.

Schedule change for KU
volleyball team
KUTZTOWN, Pa.
— The Kutztown University women's volleyball team will host
a doubleheader with Cheyney University on Tuesday September 29
starting at 6 p.m.
The match,
originally scheduled to be away on the 29th, will now be played
at Keystone Arena The match set for Friday October 30th will now
be the part of the doubleheader on the 29th.
Also, the start time for the Millersville match on Friday
Oct. 2 has been moved up an hour to a 6 p.m. start.

Kutztown
women’s soccer ranked 24th in NSCAA/adidas poll
KUTZTOWN, PA
–
For the second consecutive season, the Kutztown University
women’s soccer team is among the nation’s elite. Kutztown was
ranked 24th in the latest National Soccer Coaches
Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas women’s soccer poll
released Tuesday afternoon.
The Golden
Bears, who were nationally ranked last season, are off to a 3-0
start under head coach Erik Burstein. After opening the season
with a victory over eighth-ranked Mercyhurst, the Golden Bears
defeated Mansfield, 6-0, and Charleston, 5-1, last week at
home.
Sophomore
Shannon Pennock has fueled the Golden Bears’ quick start by
scoring four goals through KU’s first three games. Kutztown has
been dominant after intermission this season, outscoring the
opposition, 12-1. The Golden Bears have received goals from nine
different players.
Kutztown also
moved up two spots in the weekly Atlantic Regional rankings to
fourth. KU is ranked behind California (Pa.), Concord (W. Va.)
and East Stroudsburg. Ranked behind the Golden Bears are Indiana
(Pa.), Bloomsburg, West Chester, Davis & Elkins and Mercyhurst.
The Golden
Bears face a challenging week with a home game against
Shippensburg today and their first away contest of the 2009
season at East Stroudsburg, currently ranked 17th in
the NCSAA Top 25 poll.

Kutztown women's soccer team ranked
sixth in Atlantic Region
KUTZTOWN, Pa.

The Kutztown
University women’s soccer team has earned a spot in the
first National Soccer Coaches Association of America
Division II Atlantic Regional rankings of 2009 following its
huge 2-1 overtime victory over nationally-ranked Mercyhurst
last Friday.
The Golden
Bears (1-0 overall) are ranked sixth in the Atlantic Region.
Kutztown sophomore
Shannon Pennock (Mansfield, NJ/North Burlington)
scored 39 seconds into overtime to help KU defeat Mercyhurst for the
first time in school history. Mercyhurst entered the game
ranked eighth in the Division II women’s soccer preseason
Top 25.
The Golden
Bears continue their early-season home schedule with a match
against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East rival
Mansfield Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. and a non-conference match
against Charleston, ranked ninth in the NSCAA poll, Saturday
morning at 11:00 a.m.
Slippery Rock, West Chester,
California, Gannon and Wheeling-Jesuit occupy the top five
spots ahead of Kutztown. The schools ranked behind Kutztown
are East Stroudsburg, Davis & Elkins, University of
Charleston (W. Va.), Indiana and Clarion. Both IUP and
Clarion are tied for 10th
in the region.

the NSCAA is the largest coaches' organization in the United
States. Since its founding in 1941, it has grown to include
more than 28,000 members who coach both genders at all
levels of the sport. In addition to a national rankings
program for colleges and high schools, NSCAA offers an

individual awards every year. It fulfills its mission of
coaching education through a nationwide program of clinics
and week-long courses, teaching more than 4,000 soccer
coaches each year.
