There is numerous Golden Bears playing professional
baseball around the world, ranging from Single-A to the
Nippon Professional Baseball league in Japan.
Ron Chiavacci is
currently pitching with the Detriot Tigers Triple-A
affiliate Toledo Mud Hens. Chiavacci has appeared in 20
games, starting in four, and has a record of 1-5 with a
5.24 ERA. In 46.1 innings of work, he has struck out 34,
walked 25 and recorded two saves.

Right-handed pitcher
Mike McCardell is currently pitching for the
Double-A New Britain Rock Cats (Minnesota Twins affiliate). McCardell, who was named the 2008 Twins minor league
Pitcher of the Year, is currently 1-1 with a 6.75 ERA.
He has started in three games, pitching 16 innings and
striking out 16.

The Golden Bears 2009
staff ace Darin Gorski has started five games and
appeared in seven for the Brooklyn Cyclones after being
drafted in seventh round of this years draft by the New
York Mets. Gorski currently holds a 1-2 record with an
ERA of 5.23. In 31 innings of work, Gorski has struck
out 26 compared to only eight walks.

Philip Rummel is
currently pitching for the Lancaster JetHawks (Houston
Astros affiliate) in the Class A Advanced California
League. Rummel has a 2-5 record, pitching in 22 games
and starting in six. In his 47 innings of work, Rummel
has struck out 29 batters compared to only 19 walks.

Ryan Vogelsong,
former fifth round pick of the 1998 draft, is currently
pitching for the Orix Buffaloes of the Nippon
Professional Baseball league. Vogelsong is now in his
third season in Japan, after pitching in Major League
Baseball for the San Francisco Giants and Pittsburgh
Pirates from 2000-06.
