Men’s Basketball (16-12, 7-5 PSAC East)

       TUE 2/28 — Mansfield 96, Kutztown 73 – Mansfield defeated Kutztown, 96-73, in a PSAC quarterfinal contest.  Bruce Hall (sr. Cheltenham/Cheltenham) scored 22 points for KU.  Dorian Sims (jr. Reading/Central Catholic) added 16 and Frank Moultrie (sr. Southampton/William Tennent) scored 10.  Maurice Bryant (jr. Coatesville/Coatesville) dished out nine assists to bring his single-season school record total to 179.  It was KU’s fourth-straight winning year, a first for the program since the 1910s.

Women’s Basketball (16-12, 7-5 PSAC East)

TUE 2/28 — Kutztown 55, East Stroudsburg 50 – Kutztown University defeated East Stroudsburg, 55-50, in a quarterfinal of the PSAC playoffs.  This is the first time since 1999 Kutztown has won the quarterfinal game.  Mercedes Van Wagner (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Regional) led the Golden Bears with 25 points and 13 rebounds.  Lara Dellegrotti (fr. Berwick/Berwick) added 13 points off the bench.  Rachel Weidensaul (so. Ashland/Cardinal Brennan) dished out seven assists.

FRI 3/4 — Edinboro 77, Kutztown 46 – Edinboro had four players score in double figures as it defeated Kutztown, 77-46, in a semifinal match-up in the PSAC playoffs.  Weidensaul led KU with 13 points.  Tricia McElmoyle (fr. Jim Thorpe/Marian Catholic) was the only other Golden Bear to score in double figures with 11.  Trish Dudeck (sr. Shamokin/Shamokin) pulled in nine boards. Megan Bainbridge (jr. Minersville/Nativity BVM) dished out three assists, bringing her single-season school record total to 148.
