MAROON &GOLD FALL CLASSIC
M:
2nd/6 –
Kutztown’s men’s cross country team finished second as it hosted the
Maroon and Gold Fall Classic. Lock Haven placed first with 29
points, Kutztown had 40 points and West Chester placed third with 62
points.
Patrick Bone (jr.

finished first for KU, second overall in the 8k run, with a time of
27:10.

POST 3 - KU scored a late goal
to defeat C.W. Post, 4-3. KU took a 2-0 early on, with goals by
Laura
Belfatti (sr. Hatfield/Lansdale Catholic)
and
Whitney Stum (so.
Landisburg/West Perry).
Kelley
Healey
scored her first goal of the game with 54:36 off the clock to give
KU a 3-2 edge. After C. W. Post tied the game,
Healey
rebounded her own shot and planted
the game winner in the back of the cage.
Sam Flowers (jr.
Souderton/Souderton) had six
saves in net.
SAT 9/9 —
KUTZTOWN 2, PHILADELPHIA 1 -
Kutztown defeated Philadelphia, 2-1, and finished the tournament
3-0. Philadelphia scored in the first 10 minutes of the game, but
Kristin
Snyder (so. Dalton/Lackawanna Trail)
scored for KU right before half time
to tie the score.
Bozarth
scored her fourh goal of the season
in the second half to give Kutztown the one goal lead.
Flowers
made eight saves in net for the win. Four members of the Golden
Bears were named to the All-Tournament team. They were

and
Holly Hubbard (so.
Etters/Red Land).

– Kutztown started the season with a second place finish as it
hosted the Golden Bear Invitational. Lehigh came in first, shooting
a 323. Kutztown shot a 337 for second. Mount St. Mary’s was third
(349) and McDaniel finished fourth (393).

first for KU, second overall, shooting a 78 on the par 74 course.

Bridgeport 3, Kutztown 1
- Bridgeport defeated Kutztown, 3-1. The Golden Bears got on the
board first when
Mike Choiniere (fr. Boyertown/Boyertown)
scored off a penalty kick in the 24th minute. Bridgeport scored its
first goal the same way in the 32nd minute. Bridgeport scored two
more goals in the second half to win, 3-1.
Kratz had three
saves in net for KU.

her first collegiate goal 35 seconds into the game, off an assist

first of her two goals on the afternoon seven minutes later to give
KU a 2-0 lead.

the home opener for the Golden Bears. Game scores were 30-19, 30-17
and 30-15.

had 14 digs and
five aces.
Kinney had 24
assists and 10 digs for the Golden Bears.
FRI 9/8-SAT 9/9 —
KU CLASSIC
FRI 9/8 —
KUTZTOWN 3, NY TECH 2
- Kutztown came from behind and defeated NY Tech in five games,
3-2. Kutztown looked to have the first game under control until a
late surge by NY Tech and ended up losing 30-24. The second game
went down to the wire before NY Tech came out on top, 34-32, taking
a 2-0 lead in the match. Kutztown did not let up. It came back
strong in the final three games, 30-17, 30-14, 15-9, to take the
match.
Brandon led the
Golden Bears with 20 kills. She also added 12 digs and eight
blocks.
Witherite
notched 34 digs and 14 kills.
Kinney dished
out 50 assists and added 22 digs.
Waters and
Bunting each
added eight kills.
Waters blocked
11 shots.
KUTZTOWN 3, ST. ROSE 1
- St. Rose won the first game, 30-28, but KU came back and won the
next three to take the match, 3-1. The final three game scores were
30-23, 30-25, 30-21.
Kinney led the
Golden Bears with five service aces, 47 assists and 16 digs.
Brandon chipped
in with 22 kills.
Witherite had 22
digs and nine kills. She added three service aces to move into a
tie for second place on KU's career chart.
Biuso added 15
digs.
SAT 9/9 —
KUTZTOWN 3, FAIRMONT STATE 0
- Kutztown defeated Fairmont State, 3-0, to finish the KU Classic,
3-0. Game scores were 30-14, 30-21, 30-23. KU was led by
Witherite with
14 kills and 17 digs.
Biuso notched
seven digs.
Kinney dished
out 40 assists and 10 digs.
Brandon added 12
kills.
