at Spiked Shoe Invitational
M: 16th/25
- The men's cross country teams
competed in the Spiked Shoe Invitational at Penn State and placed
16th.
Patrick Bone (jr. Preasville/Central Bucks West)
was Kutztown’s top finisher in the five-mile run, with a time of
27:23 (46th).
Joe Haughey (sr.
Richboro/Council Rock South)
came in 83rd in a time of 28:17.
Dan Wilde (sr. New
Cumberland/Cedar Cliff) placed
100th with a time of 28:32. In 104th,
Patrick Coyne
(sr.
Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan)
finished in 28:39 and
John Pyne (so.
Harrisburg/Bishop McDevitt)
finished with a time of 28:50, for 111th.
W:9th/25
– The women’s cross country team,
ranked 14th in Division II, finished ninth.
Stephanie Williams
(jr. Harrisburg/Riverside) was
Kutztown’s top runner on the 6K course. She finished 38th with a
time of 22:59.
Joanna Horstmann
(so. Downingtown/Downingtown West)
placed 56th with a time of 23:27.

finished with a time of 23:31 (60th).
Desiree Bower (sr.

- Kutztown fell to Bloomsburg, 5-2. The Golden Bears got off to a
rough start and were down 4-0 at the half. Kutztown got on the
board at the 53:48 mark when

- Kutztown scored a goal in each half to defeat Millersville, 2-0.
Hoxter scored
off a pass from

15:04 mark to put Kutztown on the board. At the 41:23 mark,
Turner made it
2-0, scoring with an assist from
Whitney Stum (so.
Landisburg/West
Perry).
Flowers had 13
saves in the cage for KU.
SAT 9/23 —
INDIANA (PA) 3, KUTZTOWN 1
- IUP scored two goals in the second half to defeat Kutztown, 3-1.
IUP got on the board first, scoring just five minutes in to the
game. Kutztown tied the game when
Healey scored,
off an assists from
Hoxter, at the
18:29 mark.
Flowers made 11
saves in net for the Golden Bears.

— at Mercyhurst Invitational
7th/14
- Kutztown competed at the Mercyhurst Invitational and finished
seventh. The Golden Bears placed seventh out of 14 teams, shooting
722 for the two day invitational. Western finished first with a
score of 680. California (PA) placed second (684) and Toronto was
third (689). Ashland placed sixth with a score of 704. Kutztown
was seventh (722), one shot ahead of Allegheny in eighth (723).
Holly Shubilla (sr.
Wilkes-Barre/GAR
Memorial), tied
for 28th, was first for Kutztown. Her scored were 88-93-181 on the
par 73 course.
Angie Petak (jr.
Brockway/Brockway)
and
Lauren Foulke (so.
Kempton/Kutztown)
tied at 36th.
Petak shot
79-86-183, while
Foulke went
91-92-183.
Bethany Adams (so.
Schnecksville/Parkland)

MON 9/18 —
West Chester 3, Kutztown 0
- West Chester defeated Kutztown, 3-0. The Golden Rams scored a
goal late in the first half. WCU then added two second half goals
to secure the win.
Ryan
Kratz (jr. Boyertown/Boyertown)
had four saves in goal for KU.
THU 9/21 —
EAST STROUDSBURG 4, KUTZTOWN 0
- East Stroudsburg remained unbeaten, breaking open a close game
with three second-half goals in a 4-0 victory over Kutztown. The
Warriors took a 1-0 lead with a goal at the 15:52 mark. ESU then
netted goals after the break for the 4-0 final.
Kratz had seven
saves for the KU.
SAT 9/23 —
SHIPPENSBURG 1, KUTZTOWN 0
- Kutztown had many scoring opportunities but could not get by
Shippensburg and fell, 1-0. Kutztown had 10 shots on net, but could
not break the Ship goalkeeper. The game remained scoreless until
the 86th minute when Shippensburg scored.
Kratz had four
saves for the Golden Bears.

through the second half to give Kutztown a 1-0 win over East
Stroudsburg.
Chiara sank the
game's only goal at the 62:30 mark, after taking a pass from

(3 saves) and the defense, led by sweeper

KUTZTOWN 3, SHIPPENSBURG 2
- Kutztown defeated Shippensburg, 3-2. The teams played to a 2-2
tie in the first half. Ship scored first, just two minutes into the
contest. Kutztown responded 40 seconds later when
Brunner scored,
off a pass from

Kutztown took a 2-1 lead when

Kutztown 3, Clarion 0
- Kutztown won in three games over Clarion. Game scores were 30-23,
30-24 and 30-19.
Witherite had
two service aces to establish a new Kutztown University career
record with 131. She entered the match with 129, tied with the
previous record holder Mary Kate Strine (2000-03). She added 11
kills and 13 digs.
Brandon had 16
kills, two blocks and two aces.
Kinney had 34
assists and 12 digs and
Waters had eight
kills and three blocks.
Edinboro 3, Kutztown 2
- Kutztown and Edinboro played close games, but Edinboro pulled out
the win in five games. Game scores were 31-29, 30-24, 23-30, 15-30,
17-15. Kutztown lost the first two game only to win games three and
four to force a game five. Game five came down to the wire, but the
Golden Bears ended up losing.
Brandon notched
21 kills and five blocks.
Witherite added
16 kills.
Kinney dished
out 34 assists.
Waters had 11
blocks while
Bunting added
seven.
