Athlete of the Week

Rich Reshetar, Swimming
(sr. Pipersville/Central Bucks East)  

         Rich Reshetar, of the swimming team, is this week’s KU Student Bookstore Athlete of the Week.  Reshetar placed first in three individual events and was a part of the winning 200 yard free relay team.  His victories helped the team get the 144-118 win over Edinboro.

       THU 11/9-SAT 11/11 — NCAA Atlantic Regionals (at Lock Haven, PA)

THU 11/9 — Kutztown 3, Clarion 0 - Sarah Brandon (sr. Gibsonia/Pine-Richland) had 18 kills to lead Kutztown to a 3-0 win over Clarion in a quarterfinal match-up.  Game scores were 30-22, 32-30, 30-15.  Brandon was one of three players in double digits in kills for KU.  Dani Witherite (sr. PA Furnace/State College) had 12 and Erin Waters (jr. Waymart/Western Wayne) added 11.  Nicole Biuso (jr. Centereach, NY/Ward Melville) notched 12 digs and Austin Kinney (so. Landisville/Hempfield) added 43 assists and 10 digs. 

FRI 11/10 — Lock Haven 3, Kutztown 1 - Lock Haven brought an end to Kutztown's season with a 3-1 win in a semi-final contest.  LHU won the first two games by identical 30-24 scores.  KU stormed back with a 30-16 victory in game three.  The Lady Eagles, however, came from behind to win game four, 30-27, to secure the victory. Witherite had 19 kills and 11 digs to lead Kutztown.  Waters added 12 kills and seven blocks.  Brandon recorded 10 kills and seven blocks.  Kinney dished out 45 assists and had 12 digs.  Biuso notched 10 digs and Shelby Bunting (sr. Green Lane/Pennridge) had eight blocks.

         Kinney and Witherite were selected to the Atlantic Regional All-Tournament Team.

SAT 11/11 — Kutztown 144, Edinboro 118 – Kutztown defeated Edinboro, 144-118, at a meet at Mansfield.  Rich Reshetar (sr. Pipersville/Central Bucks East) led the Golden Bears with three individual wins and was part of the winning 200 yard free relay team.  The relay team of Derek Orr (so. Easton/Easton), Stephan Krater (fr. Port Carbon/Pottsville Area), Sean Bonifas (jr. Lancaster/Hempfield) and Reshetar won in a time of 1:31.10.  Reshetar’s individual wins came in the 50 free (22.70), 100 free (50.45) and the 200 free (1:49.21).  Bonifas won the 100 breast in a time of 1:03.73 and Scott Arnold (jr. York/Northeastern) placed first in the 200 fly (2:09.70).

Women’s Swimming (3-2, 2-2 PSAC)

Last Week’s Action
SAT 11/11 — Kutztown 85, Mansfield 37/Edinboro 71, Kutztown 51 -
Ashley Singer (jr. Lititz/Warwick) set a pool record at Mansfield as Kutztown split a pair of meets against Mansfield and Edinboro.  Kutztown defeated Mansfield, 85-37, and lost to Edinboro, 71-51.  Singer set the pool record in the 100 free with a time of 55.22.  She also won the 50 free in 24.48.  Staci McGinty (jr. Jamison/Central Bucks East) placed first in the 200 free (2:01.13) and Christine Paski (fr. Wilmington, DE/Concord) won the 500 free (5:42.93)
