turned in the top individual performance for the Golden
Bears, winning his third consecutive PSAC indoor
championship in the shot put. His winning throw of 53-2 3/4
was an NCAA provisional performance.
KU's men were seventh out of 13
teams with 48 points. Lock Haven won the team title with
140. Shippensburg was second (117) and East Stroudsburg
third (82). Slippery Rock (70.5), West Chester (66) and
Indiana (48.5) were fourth-through-sixth. Following KU was
Cheyney with 38 points.

- Kutztown University's women's indoor track & field team
placed third at the PSAC Championship. The KU women placed
third with 73.5 points, coming up short in their bid for a
fourth-straight PSAC indoor title. Slippery Rock ran away
with the team title with 162.5 points. Lock Haven was
second with 86. East Stroudsburg was fourth with 72,
followed by Shippensburg with 68.
Renee Marchand (sr.

placed in three events. She was second in the pentathlon
(3,378 points), tied for fourth in the high jump (5-3 1/4)
and was sixth in the long jump (17-2).
Laura Deller (jr.

finished seventh in the long jump (17-1 ¼).

finished second in the 5000 (18:03.66) and was fourth in the

Championships. KU scored 280 team points, two ahead of
Edinboro, with 278. West Chester won the team title with
907.5 points. Clarion was second with 685, followed by
Shippensburg with 622. The top individual performance for
the KU men came in the 100 breast, where

W: 7th/13
– KU's women scored 213.5 points for seventh place at the
PSAC CHampionships. West Chester won the women's crown with
810 points. Clarion was second (562) and Indiana (PA) was
third (381). Shippensburg (377), Bloomsburg (338) and
Edinboro (253) were fourth-through-sixth. California (PA)
followed Kutztown with 190 points.
Ashley Singer (jr.
Lititz/Warwick)
set two Kutztown records and qualified for nationals.
Singer led
off the 800 yard free relay and swam 1:53.94 to qualify for
nationals.
Singer
placed second in the 500 free with a KU record of 5:06.01.
She also set a record in the 200 free placing second with a
time of 1:54.15. In both events,
Singer
broke her own records, bettering her time in the 200
(1:55.72) and in the 500 (5:09.20), both from 2006. She
also finished fourth in the 100 free with an NCAA B-cut time
of 53.36.
Steph Jeppesen (fr.
Bethlehem/Liberty)
placed
fourth in the 200 breast with an NCAA-B cut and
school-record time of 2:25.43.
Jeppeson
also placed ninth in the 100 breast (1:08.22), 14th in the
200 IM (2:14.50). Other Kutztown place winners included

in the 200 free (11th,
1:58.36), 500 free (13th, 5:18.43) and 1650 free (16th,

Kutztown University Wrestling finished sixth out of 13 teams
at the NCAA Division II East Regional at UNC-Pembroke.
Pitt-Johnstown won its
fifth-consecutive NCAA East Regional title with 120 points.
Mercyhurst placed second with 113.5 and Shippensburg was
third with 100 points. West Liberty finished fourth (91.5),
Newberry fifth (86) and Kutztown sixth (69.5). Gannon
placed seventh (58) and UNC-Pembroke was eighth (57).
Belmont Abbey finished ninth (56) and Limestone 10th
(44.5). American International and Anderson tied for 11th
(11) and St. Andrews Presbyterian finished 13th (0.5).
Kutztown
has three grapplers,
Joe Kemmerer (jr. Mountaintop/Crestwood),
Kevin Kalbach (sr. Downingtown/Downingtown)
and
Chris Chambers (so. Holland/Council Rock South),
moving onto the NCAA Championships.
Kemmerer
finished first at 133 lbs. to gain the individual title and
earn his first Division II national berth. In the
championship bout,
Kemmerer
defeated the reigning 133 lb. champion, Brandon Reasy from
Pitt-Johnstown, 5-2.
Kalbach
earns his first individual title and second-straight
national berth.
Kalbach
defeated Phil Bliss from Belmont-Abbey, 3-1, in the
championship round.
Chambers
won his fifth place about at 149 lbs. to move on to the true
fourth-place bout. There he defeated Joey Hagedorn from
West Liberty to earn his second-straight national berth.
The Golden Bears had two other place winners -

finished fifth at 141 and
Roy Gecelosky (sr. Annville/Palmyra)
placed sixth at 184.

was 5-for-5 with six RBI to lead Kutztown to a 12-2 win over
Bloomsburg.
Lightcap,
who was a triple short of the cycle, belted a three-run
homer in Kutztown's six-run third inning. He added RBI
singles in the fifth and eighth innings.
Kranz was
2-for-2 with two runs scored, while
Craig was
2-for-5 and
McCardell
was 2-for-6.
Scott Kacelowicz (fr.
Orwigsburg/Blue Mountain)
hit a two-run homer in the third. Five pitchers took the
mound for KU, striking out a combined 14 Huskie batters.
