KU’s golf team opened its spring season at the Northern Kentucky
Invitational at the Perry Park Golf Course. Kutztown finished
16th with a total score of 705. Drury placed first (603), Grand
Valley State was second (615) and Northwood came in third
(616). Marian College placed 15th (691) and Franklin College
was 17th (715).
Holly Shubilla (sr. Wilkes-Barre/GAR Memorial)
was KU’s top golfer. She tied for 63rd, shooting 87-84-171 on
the par 71 course.
Lauren Foulke (so. Kempton/Kutztown)
tied for 74th (83-92-175).
Angie Petak (jr. Brockway/Brockway)
(88-92-180) and
Bethany Adams (so. Schnecksville/Parkland)
(92-88-180) tied for 83rd.
Tristin Suzenski (Pottstown/St. Pius X)
(92-91-183) rounded out the Golden Bear golfers in 88th.

Renee Marchand (sr.

finished first in the long jump with a jump if 17-8 1/4 and
placed third in the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.73. In the
1500,
Desiree Bower (sr.
Bethel/Tulpehocken)
came in first with a time of 4:49.32.
Bower then
placed third in the 800 with a time of 2:26.03.
Heather Spangenberg (fr.

came in first in the 400 with at time of 1:00.48.

Kutztown 11, Grand Valley State 1

Steph Denlinger (so. Harleysville/Souderton HS)
set Kutztown’s career home run record in Kutztown’s 11-1 win
over Grand Valley State. Just a sophomore,
Denlinger
hit two four-baggers against the Lakers, bringing her career
total to 24. She passes Kellie Evans, who had 23 home runs from
2000-2003. Denlinger
shattered KU’s single-season record with 16 dingers last year.
She is half-way to that total this season with eight homers so
far. She finished 4-for-4 with four RBI in the game.

was 3-for-3
with two RBI,
Fitzgerald,
Cameron and
Lindsey Bennett (jr.
Rising Sun,
MD/Rising Sun)
were 2-for-4.
Bennett had

Kaitlin Arbogast (fr.
Ambler/Wissahickon)
struck out five in the victory. Willmer was 1-for-4
to bring her career hit total to 215, tying KU's career record
held.
SAT 3/24 — Kutztown 10, Northwood 1 (5 inn)

Willmer
was 2-for-4, breaking Kutztown's career hits record. She
now has 217, passing previous record holder Lorie Erie, who had
215 from 1992-96.
Weidensaul
pitched a complete game for the 10-1 win over Northwood. She
gave up two hits and struck out three.
Denlinger
hit a two-run homer for KU.
Schiavo
and
Cameron each
had a double.
Schiavo
scored two runs.
Kutztown 6, Mercyhurst 3

Cameron hit
a two-run homer in a 6-3 win against Mercyhurst.
Arbogast
pitched the first 5.1 innings, the closed out the game with the
final out for the win.
Weidensaul
pitched 1.1 innings.
Fitzgerald
was 2-4 with a double.
Bennett was
2-3 with a double.
Cameron was
2-4 with a double and a two-run home run.
SUN 3/25 — Kutztown 7, Charleston {WV} 1
- Kutztown defeated Charleston {WV}, 7-1.
Denlinger
started the game, pitching four innings and striking out four
for the win.
Arbogast
threw three innings, striking out three, for the save. Kutztown
got on the board in the second inning. With the bases loaded,
Willmer hit
a two run single. In the fifth innings, KU added three runs on
back-to-back doubles by
Denlinger
and
Cameron.
