with three RBI to lead Kutztown to a 15-6 win over East
Stroudsburg. Kutztown, which moved up to #3 in the latest
Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll, jumped out to an early lead
with two runs in each of the first two innings.
Mills belted
a three-run homer in KU's eight-run third inning that broke open
the game.
Ryan Loper (sr.
Boiling
Springs/Cumberland Valley)
was 2-for-2 with two RBI.
Matt Kulbacki (fr.
Hershey/Hershey)
was 2-for-3
with three runs.
Paul Cashin (sr.
Collingdale/Monsignor Bonner)

pitched a complete game as KU defeated ESU, 6-3. Kutztown would
take the lead in the fourth inning.
Bryan Riggins (jr.
Glenmore/Downingtown West)
drew a walk to start the inning. He scored on a sacrifice by
Nate Kranz.
The Golden Bears added two insurance runs in the sixth.

Bond (sr.
Malvern/Great
Valley) was
2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Kranz was
1-for-2 with two walks, a double and two RBI.
Chad Lightcap (so.

- KU came from behind to win, 8-4. Trailing 4-3 in the fifth
inning,
Bond led off
with a pinch hit double. After
Mike Kacelowicz (fr.
Orwigsburg/Blue Mountain)
singled,
Bond tied
the score on
Kranz’s RBI
single.
Kacelowicz
stole third and scored on a throwing error by ESU's catcher to
give KU a 5-4 lead. The Bears added insurance runs in the sixth
and seventh.
Kranz
finished 2-for-2 with two RBI.
Craig was
2-for-4 with three RBI.
Loper was
2-for-4 and
Kacelowicz
was 2-for-5 with two runs.
Darin Gorski (fr.
Mount
Joy/Donegal)
got the win, going four innings with four strikeouts.
Kutztown 5, East Stroudsburg 2
- KU completed the four-game sweep with a 5-2 victory over ESU.
Kutztown jumped to an early lead with four runs in the first
inning.
Bond and
Kranz led
off with singles. After
McCardell
hit a sacrifice fly to score
Bond,
Loper belted
a two-run single. He later scored on an error. It was all the
offense
Matt Keller (sr.
Fleetwood/Fleetwood)
would need to pick up the win. The senior scattered six hits and
struck out four in the complete-game victory.
Kranz
finished 2-for-4 with two runs and
Loper was
1-for-3 with a run and two RBI.
WED 4/11 —
Kutztown 2, Shippensburg 1
-
Mills
pitched a complete-game five-hitter as Kutztown defeated
Shippensburg 2-1, despite managing just one hit of its own.
Kutztown was held hitless until the seventh inning. In the KU
seventh,
Garrison Rausch (jr.
Allentown/Parkland)
walked and stole second.
Bond hit a
two-run single for the Golden Bears' only runs and sole hit on
the afternoon.
Bond was
1-for-2 with two RBI and two walks.
Mills struck
out three over nine innings.
FRI 4/13 —
KUTZTOWN 8, WEST CHESTER 4
- The Golden Bears hit back-to-back-to-back homers in the third
inning to come from behind and win 8-4.
Lightcap hit
a two-run
homer to
start it.
Jeff Craig (sr.
Wilkes-Barre/Bishop Hoban)
and
Loper also
went yard in the frame.
Loper hit
his second homer of the game, a three-run shot in the bottom of
the fifth, to put the game out of reach.
Loper
finished 2-for-3 with four RBI.
Lightcap was
2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
Rausch got
the win. He pitched five innings, allowing seven hits and four
runs, three earned, with six strikeouts.
KUTZTOWN 3, WEST CHESTER 2
– The Golden Bears won, 3-2 over West Chester, on a walk-off
bases-loaded single by
Kranz in the
bottom of the seventh. In KU's seventh,
Kacelowicz
drew a leadoff walk. He went to third when
Kulbacki
reached first on an error as he attempted to sacrifice bunt.
Bond walked
to load the bases.
Kranz then
ripped a single into right field to score
Kacelowicz
for the game winner.
Kranz was
2-for-4, while
Craig was
2-for-3 and
Loper was
2-for-2.
McCardell
was the winner. He had two strikeouts.
Derick
Reis (jr.
Jim Thorpe/Jim
Thorpe)
started the game and finished with three Ks and allowed two runs
in 5.1 innings.
SAT 4/14 —
West Chester 5, Kutztown 4 -
The Golden Bears took a 4-3 lead into the seventh inning, but
lost 5-4 at West Chester. Kutztown's runs came in the fourth
inning on a
McCardell
grand slam. With the bases loaded by walks,
McCardell
hit the ball to left-center to give KU a 4-2 lead.
McCardell
pitched the seventh inning, taking the loss.
Rummel
started the game, going 3.1 innings.
McCardell
finished 1-for-3 at the plate with four RBI.
Kutztown 9, West Chester 3
– The Golden Bears beat West Chester, 9-3.
McCardell
hit his second grand slam of the afternoon in the third inning.
It is first time on record that a KU player has had two grand
slams during a doubleheader.
Keller threw
six innings for KU and struck out four for the win.
McCardell
was 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored.
Loper went
2-for-4 and scored two runs.

tossed a complete-game one hitter in a 2-1 KU win.
Denlinger
hit a solo home run. In

double. Two batters later,
Maria Schiavo (fr. Old Forge/Old Forge)
drove in the winning run with a

Kutztown 12,
Millersville 6 – Kutztown
rapped out 15 hits, including four homers, for a 12-6 win over
the Marauders. Kutztown had nine extra base hits.
Denlinger
became the first Golden Bear with 20 home runs in a season,
breaking the PSAC single-season record of 19 set last season by
Lock Haven. She finished 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Tami Wambold
(fr. Hatboro/Hatboro-Horsham)
was 2-for-4 with a pair of homers and three RBI.
Willmer
was 2-for-5 with a home run.
Cameron
was 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Weidensaul
was the beneficiary of
KU's offense. She struck out four over seven innings for the
win. KU’s five homers on the afternoon brought the total to 54
this season, tying KU's single-season record set last year.

MANSFIELD 1 (6) – KU
defeated Mansfield 9-1. KU had a five run fifth inning to break
the game open. The Golden Bears invoked the eight-run rule with
two more runs in the sixth inning.
Schiavo
was 3-for-3 with two RBI.
Morrison
was 2-for-3 and
Willmer
was 2-for-4 and scored two runs.
Denlinger
had a single and was walked three times.
Arbogast
pitched six innings, striking out seven.
KUTZTOWN 4,
MANSFIELD 3 (8) – Kutztown
battled back from being down 3-0 to win 4-3 over Mansfield.
After scoring one run in the fourth, the Golden Bears tied to
score on a two-run double by
Fitzgerald
in the fifth. With the score tied in the eighth,
Wambold
walked to lead off the bottom of the inning. She was replaced
by pinch runner
Liana Daczka (fr,
Manchester/Northeastern).
Daczka
advanced two bases on a Mountaineer wild pitch.
Willmer
hit the game winning single for the 4-3 win.
Fitzgerald
was 2-for-2 with two RBI.

– Three runs in the first inning were enough as KU defeated the
Huskies, 3-2.

also scored after an error by the Bloomsburg leftfielder for the
3-0 lead.

– Kutztown defeated Bloomsburg, 5-2. Bloomsburg scored first,
but KU cut the lead to 2-1 in the fourth inning. A four-run
sixth inning gave KU the lead.
Morrison

walked to start the inning.
Fitzgerald
doubled to knock in
Morrison and
tie the game.
Cameron
singled, driving in
Denlinger as
the go-ahead run.
Arbogast
pitched three innings of relief for the win.
Weidensaul
started the game, going four innings.
Morrison was
2-for-4 and scored two runs.
Fitzgerald
finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.
Denligner
was walked once. With her three walks from game one, she has 31
on the season, breaking the KU single-season record of 27 set by
Kim Yost in 1987.
KU is now in sole
possession of first place in the PSAC East with a 13-1 record.
