Men’s Basketball (1-0, 0-0 PSAC East)

Last Week’s Action

       TUE 11/20 - KU 77, WILMINGTON (Del.) 70 — Stephen Dennis (so. West Chester/Henderson) led a group of four double-digit scorers with 18 and KU converted 8-of-10 free throws down the stretch to hold off Wilmington College 77-70 at Keystone Hall. Leading by 10 with 2:54 left, KU allowed Wilmington to creep back into the non-conference contest and make it a three-point game at 72-69 with 36 seconds left. Dennis, however, made two free throws to push the lead back out to five and help seal the home-opening win for the Golden Bears. He finished 6-of-8 from the free-throw line. Andre Woodlin (jr. Philadelphia/Central) nearly had a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Dave Ben (jr. Coatesville/Coatesville) scored 15 points and had seven rebounds. Sean McKeon (sr. Phoenixville/Phoenixville) had 10 points and six blocks. Nate Edwards (so. Philadelphia/Northeast Catholic) came up with a game-high five steals, while Dennis had four. Dennis also had a team-high five assists.

Women’s Basketball (2-1, 0-0 PSAC East)

Last Week’s Action

       TUE 11/20 - KU 87, Columbia Union 72 Rachel Weidensaul (sr. Ashland/Cardinal Brennan) scored a career-high 22 points while leading KU to an 87-72 win at Columbia Union Tuesday. Three other Golden Bears scored in double-digits as KU improved to 2-1 on the season. Melissa McQuade (fr. Pittsburgh/Shaler) scored 19 points and had eight rebounds for KU, while Lara Dellegrotti (jr. Berwick/Berwick) had 14 points and Vivian Melvin (so. Chichester/Chichester) had 11. Melvin also had six assists and six rebounds. Dellegrotti had five assists.

Last Week’s Action

       WED 11/21 - KU 21, ELIZABETHTOWN 18 — KU rallied off five straight decisions to erase an early deficit and win 21-16 over Elizabethtown College at Keystone Hall. Scott Snyder (so. Slatington/Northern Lehigh), at 197, had a 13-7 decision in the final bout of the night with KU leading 18-16 to give the Golden Bears the win. At 184, with KU trailing 16-15, Kyle Davis (so. Peckville/Valley View) won 12-9 to give KU its first lead since Kevin Bolinsky (fr. Ashland/North Schuylkill), at heavyweight, made it 3-0 with his 6-3 decision. Elizabethtown followed with two consecutive pins to take a 12-3 lead, and after 141-pounder Jamie Soupik (fr. Boyertown/Boyertown) cut it to 12-6 with a 3-2 decision, Elizabethtown, at 149, made it 16-6 with a major decision. But that was the last win Elizabethtown recorded. Chris Chambers (jr. Holland/Council Rock South), at 157, began the rally with a 4-2 win, and Sonny Flood (jr. Southampton/William Tennent) won 7-1 to make it a four-point match. Curtis Beardsell (jr. Warminster/William Tennent) cut it to one with a 6-5 decision.
