career-high 16 rebounds to lead KU over Philadelphia University in a
non-conference contest.
Dennis
was one of four Golden Bears to
reach double figures.
Dave Ben (jr.
Coatesville/Coatesville)
scored 16 points, while
Andre Woodlin
(Philadelphia/Central)
added 14 and
Jeremy Coombs
(so. Philadelphia/Northeast Catholic)
chipped in 11.

1/13 - KU 80, California (Pa.) 79 (OT) —
Dennis
scored more than 20 points for
the fourth straight contest and
Mike Connolly
(fr. Souderton/Souderton)
hit a crucial 3-pointer in
overtime as KU knocked off California (Pa.) at Hamer Hall.
Connolly,
who came off the bench to score 11 points, hit a 3-pointer with 1:22 left in
overtime to give KU an 80-77 lead in the PSAC crossover. California missed a
free throw with with four seconds left to allow KU to collect the one-point
win.
Dennis finished with a
game-high 24 points, his sixth game of 20 or more points in KU’s last eight
contests.
Ben
and
Woodlin
also finished in double
digits with 14 and 12 points, respectively.
Ben
also made three 3-pointers and
had eight rebounds.

Melissa
McQuade (fr. Pittsburgh/Shaler)
recorded her first career
double-double as KU defeated Lincoln University at Keystone Hall. McQuade
tied her career-high in points with 19 and had 13 rebounds in the
non-conference win. Teammate
Mercedes Van
Wagner (sr. Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional)
just missed a double-double of
her own, scoring 10 points and recording nine rebounds. Her nine boards,
however, moved her into fourth on KU’s all-time rebound list with 727,
passing Becky Savage (1999-2003), who had 725.
Van Wagner
also had a block in the
game, moving her to within one of tying the all-time school record.
Meredith
Starr (fr. Richmond, Va./Monacan)
also finished in double digits
with 12 points, including two of KU’s six 3-pointers in the game. She also
had six assists.
Rachel
Weidensaul (sr. Ashland/Cardinal Brennan)
came off the bench to dish out a
team-high seven assists, and
Katie Dovey
(so. Willow Hill/Fannett-Metal)
made her presence known on the
free-throw line, making 7-of-10.

1/13 - California (Pa.) 72. KU 61 —
Weidensaul
scored a game-high 20
points as KU fell to California University at Hamer Hall. The Golden Bears,
who trailed by as many as 12 in the first half, cut the Vulcans’ lead to
three midway in the second half of the PSAC crossover, but California used a
14-4 run to pull away for good.
Weidensaul,
who shot 6-for-13 from the field, hit three of the Golden Bears’ six
3-pointers.
McQuade
scored 11 points and
pulled down nine rebounds for KU, which went on a 10-4 run midway through
the second half to cut the Vulcans’ lead to 53-50.

SAT-SUN 1/12-1/13 KU 3rd/5 at New Year Knock Down —
KU went 9-1 on the weekend at
the St. Francis New Year Knock Down at Rab’s Country Lanes to finish in
third place with a total of 7,748 pins. Adelphi took first at the tournament
with 7,832 pins, with Hampton (7,801) placing second, St. Francis (7,594)
fourth and Cheyney (4,022) fifth. KU went 5-0 Saturday in the traditional
games, while going 4-1 in the baker games Sunday.
Kayla Stamm (fr.
Mohnton/Governor Mifflin),
who averaged a 213 Saturday, was named the tournament MVP and was named to
the all-tournament team. Teammates
Steph Ray
(so. West Lawn/Wilson),
who averaged 183 and had a career-high 217, and
Jacquelyn
Heimbach (jr. Easton/Easton),
who averaged a 182.2, also were named to the all-tournament team. Saturday,
KU defeated two top 25 teams in Adelphi and St. Francis. KU beat No. 15
Adelphi 892-878, before winning back-to-back matches against No. 17 St.
Francis 917-864 and 852-823. KU also defeated Hampton 848-835. Sunday, KU
again defeated Adelphi 733-629 and St. Francis 640-596, while sweeping
Cheyney in back-to-back matches 610-443 and 714-395. The Golden Bears’ only
loss came to Hampton, a 710-637 setback.

each won two events as KU
defeated Albright College.
Williams
won the 100- and 200-yard
freestyles with times of 49.75 and 1:47.34, respectively. He also helped the
200 freestyle relay team, which included
Derek Orr (jr.
Easton/Easton),
Gabriel Recio
(fr. Lancaster/Hempfield)
and
Stephen
Krater (so. Port Carbon/Pottsville Area),
take first with a time of 1:30.77.
Thomas
won the 200 backstroke in
1:59.94, while placing first in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 10:21.08.
Bonifas finished first in
both the 100 (1:01.55) and 200 (2:18.46) breaststroke. He, along with
Orr,
Recio
and
Danny Murphy
(fr. Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial),
placed first in the 200 medley relay (1:41.30).
Orr
also won the 50 freestyle
(22.81).

1/11 KU 152, Albright 96 —
Ashley Singer
(sr. Lititz/Warwick) won
three individual events, set two pool records and won a relay to help KU win
at Albright College.
Singer
took the top spot in the 100-,
200- and 500-yard freestyles, while helping the 200 freestyle relay team win
first, and the Golden Bears (5-2) won 11 out of the 14 events in the
non-conference meet. She won the 100 with a time of 54.69, while finishing
the 200 in 1:56.41 and the 500 in 5:15.01. Her times in the 200 and 500 set
new pool records at Albright. Teamed up with
Staci McGinty
(sr. Jamison/Central Bucks East),
Jill
Pantelides (sr. Lansdowne/Archbishop Prendergast)
and
Allison
Sheely (fr. Enola/Trinity),
Singer
picked up a first-place
finish in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:43.33.
Sheely
also was a dual event winner,
placing first in the 100 and 200 backstroke, with times of 1:01.50 and
2:14.42, respectively.
Sheely
was a member of the winning 200
medley relay team (1:53.78), which included
Pantelides,
Casey
Pollard (fr. Easton/Easton)
and
Steph
Jeppesen (so. Bethlehem/Liberty).
Jeppesen won two
individual events, as well, with a 2:27.40 in the 200 breaststroke and a
2:14.58 in the 200 individual medley. Her time in the 200 breaststroke set a
new pool record.
Heather
Wolkom (so. Rumson, N.J./Rumson Fair-Haven Reg.)
and
Pollard
were the other two
individual event winners for KU.
Wolkom
won the 1,000 freestyle with a
time of 11:06.68, while
Pollard
won the 50 freestyle in
26.09.

1/12 - KU 122, Millersville 78 —
Singer
and
Sheely
each won two events Saturday as
KU defeated Millersville in a PSAC meet.
Singer
won the 200-yard freestyle
(1:57.23) and the 100 butterfly (1:00.75), while
Sheely
took first in the 50 free
(25.89) and the 100 backstroke (1:01.51).
Singer
and
Sheely
also teamed up with
Kelli Pry (fr.
Coatesville/Coatesville)
and
Pantelides to win the 200
medley relay (1:54.74).
Pry
won the 200 individual medley
(2:20.88), while
McGinty
placed first in the 100
freestyle (56.92) and
Kerry Choplin
(fr. West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford)
won the 500 freestyle (5:28.34).

KU had five event winners as the
Golden Bears finished second with 131 points at the PSAC East Challenge at
Keystone Hall. Shippensburg finished first with 195 points, while East
Stroudsburg (80) took third, West Chester (68) fourth, Millersville (52)
fifth, Bloomsburg (47) sixth and Cheyney (32) seventh.
Doofan Tor-Agbidye
(jr. Stewartsville, N.J./Phillipsburg)
won the 400-meter with a time of 59.74.
Stephanie
Williams (sr. Harrisburg/Riverside)
took the top spot in the 3,000
(10:38.54). In the field events,
Kelly
Strickland (sr. Bear, Del./Caravel Academy),
with a jump of 10-9, took first in the pole vault, while
Laura Deller
(sr. York/Dallastown)
posted a 17-2 1/2 in the long jump to finish first.
Michelle
Hughes (sr. Warminster/William Tennent)
rounded out the event winners
for KU with a throw of 47-1 in the 20-pound weight throw.

1/11 - KU men KU 2nd/7 at PSAC East Challenge —
Jim Dart (sr.
Havertown/Haverford) won
two field events to lead the Golden Bears to a second-place finish with 131
points at the PSAC East Challenge at Keystone Hall. Shippensburg took first
with 219.5 points. East Stroudsburg was third with 105.5, Cheyney (59) was
fourth, West Chester (57) fifth, Millersville (46) sixth and Bloomsburg (33)
seventh.
Dart
won the 35-pound weight throw
(53-10 1/2) and the shot put (51-0 1/4). KU also collected a first-place
finish in the 1,600-meter relay as
Kendel Dixon
(so. Atglen/Octorara),
Steve
Hixson (sr. Coopersburg/Southern Lehigh),
Vonkurt Redley (sr. Philadelphia/Cheltenham)
and
Billy Boorse (sr. Collegeville/Perkiomen Valley)
combined to finish in 3:26.83.

win at King’s College in Scandlon Gymnasium.

led the way for KU with pins.
Vollrath picked up the
fastest pin in 1:12 at 133 pounds. At 165,
Flood
flattened his opponent in 5:28,
and at 184, Davis picked up a pin in 4:28.
Scott Snyder
(so. Slatington/Northern Lehigh)
and
Kevin
Bolinsky (fr. Ashland/North Schuylkill)
each collected major decisions
with
Snyder, at 197, winning
12-3, while
Bolinsky,
at 285, winning 8-0.
Chris
Chambers (jr. Holland/Council Rock South),

Dave Zeek
(so. Newtown/Council Rock North)
collected the other wins for the
Golden Bears. At 141,
Soupik
won a 3-2 decision, while
