Woodlin
scored a career-high 28
points and added 10 rebounds as KU defeated East Stroudsburg University to
win a share of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East regular
season title. This is KU’s first PSAC East title since 1988, when the Golden
Bears went 10-2 in PSAC East play. Also, this is
Bernie
Driscoll’s first PSAC
East title as a head coach. KU set a single-game school records for free
throws made, 35, and attempted, 51.
Woodlin
shot 12-of-16 from the
line and
Dennis
scored 11 of his 21 points from
the line.
Washington
was the third Golden Bear
in double figures as he netted 13 points and grabbed four rebounds, while
Mike
Connolly (fr. Souderton/Souderton)
was a consistent threat off the
bench scoring nine points.

— Senior
Mercedes Van
Wagner (sr. Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional),
playing in her final game, broke KU’s all-time career rebound record, but
the Golden Bears fell to East Stroudsburg in their final game of the regular
season at Keystone Hall. At the 6:44 mark of the first half,
Van Wagner
pulled down a defensive
rebound to set the record, passing Missy Boettger (1987-91) with 831 career
boards.
Van Wagner
finished with 12 points
and 11 rebounds for the Golden Bears.
Lara
Dellegrotti (jr. Berwick/Berwick),
Melissa McQuade (fr. Pittsburgh/Shaler)
and
Meredith
Starr (fr. Richmond, Va./Monacan)
all scored in double digits for the Golden Bears.
Dellegrotti
led the way with a
team-high 14 points, while

(sr. Bridgeport/Upper Merion)
collected first-place finishes
for the KU men’s indoor track and field team at the PSAC Championships at
East Stroudsburg University. KU finished fifth overall at the meet with 82.5
points. Slippery Rock won with 116.5 points, while Shippensburg was second
with 113. East Stroudsburg was close behind with 100 points and California
(Pa.) was fourth with 93.5 points.
Hartzler
finished first in the
men’s high jump with a leap of 6-10 1/4, breaking KU's school record. The
previous record was 6-9, set by Shaun Landis in 2002.
Tyson
edged out teammate
Jim Dart (sr.
Havertown/Havertown) for
the top spot in the shot put with a throw of 54-10 3/4.
Dart,
who owns the school record in the shot put, finished second with a throw of
54-0. Both were NCAA provisional qualifying marks.
Dart
placed fifth in the 35-pound
weight throw (54-3 3/4),
Tyson
was sixth (52-9 1/4) and

led the Kutztown University
women’s indoor track and field team to a fourth-place finish at the PSAC
Championship at East Stroudsburg University. The Golden Bears finished with
66 points, behind Slippery Rock and Shippensburg, who shared the title with
110 points each. Lock Haven was third with 92 points.
Strickland’s
jump of 11-5 3/4 was good
enough for second place in the pole vault.
Alison Wise

finished eight in the pole vault (10-0).
Hughes
also recorded a second-place
finish for KU in the 20-pound weight throw (51-11 3/4).

Division II East Regionals at Pitt-Johnstown to qualify for the NCAA
Championships.

was the only KU wrestler to
advance to a third-place bout.

at heavyweight, won 1-0 to take fifth.
Bolinsky
had two pins en route to
his fifth-place finish.
Zeek
won a 13-8 decision in the
consolation quarterfinals before winning 7-2 in the semifinals. But
second-seeded Dan Nauman, from Shippensburg, pinned
Zeek
in 4:59 to win third. KU
finished ninth overall in the team standings with 43 points. Newberry
College won the team title with 129.5 points, ahead of host Pitt-Johnstown,
which had 121 points. Mercyhurst (87), Gannon (83.5) and West Liberty State
College (83.5) round out the top five.
Zeek
will represent KU and travel to
the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for the NCAA Division II
Championships on March 14-15. Upper Iowa University will host the
tournament.

Catawba’s grand slam in the bottom of the fifth inning created the
separation needed to knock off KU. Catawba scored all seven of its runs in
back-to-back innings, with three in the fourth and four in the fifth.

went 2-for-3 with a double and a home run.

3/1 - KU 6, Coker College 0 —
Arbogast
pitched her second
straight gem for KU, throwing seven innings of no-hit ball in a win over
Coker College.
Arbogast
struck out 12 batters,
while holding Coker to just two baserunners — both on walks. KU, thanks to a
solo homer from
Denlinger
in the first inning, led
1-0 from the get-go and did not distance itself from Coker until
Flowers
started a five-run rally.
Flowers led off the
seventh with a solo home run to make it 2-0, and KU closed the inning with a
two-run double from
Caitlin Hague
(sr. Lansdale/North Penn).
Tedjeske, who went
2-for-3, also singled in two runs in the inning.

3/1 - Lincoln Memorial 3, KU 2 —
KU led 2-1, but wound up falling
3-2 lost to Lincoln Memorial (Tenn.) University. In the second inning, RBI
hits from

Kathy Gregg
(sr. Narvon/Garden Spot)
helped KU take a 2-1 lead, but the Railsplitters tied it at 2 in its half of
the third.
Denlinger
was 2-for-4 with a

first inning and went 2.2 innings, striking out four.

3/2 - KU 4, Fairmont State 3 —

second inning to give KU a win over Fairmont State.

innings, while allowing five hits and two runs to get the win. KU had its

home run, to give KU the early 2-0 lead.
