Philip Rummel (sr. Exeter/West-Mont Christian)
limited the Golden Rams to two runs on six hits and one walk, but it
wasn’t enough as the Golden Bears were shut out in the first game of
a doubleheader at Serpico Stadium.
Rausch managed
the only hit for the Golden Bears.
FRI 4/25 - KU 13, West Chester 3 —
The Golden Bears’ bats
came alive in the second game of their doubleheader with the Golden
Rams.
Quigley went
4-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored, while
Matt
Kulbacki (so. Hershey/Hershey)
was 2-for-4 with four
RBIs.
Kulbacki hit a
three-run homer in the first inning and
Jared
Frey (so. Mohrsville/Schuylkill Valley),
who scored on the home run, hit an RBI single earlier in the inning.
Nole
Saylor (fr. Boyertown/Boyertown),
who went 2-for-4, doubled to start off the second inning and scored
on a sacrifice fly by
Lightcap.
Lightcap finished
1-for-2 with two runs scored.
Kacelowicz was

pitched the Golden Bears
to a win in game one of their doubleheader with the Golden Rams at
North Campus Field.
Gorski collected
his sixth complete game, limiting West Chester to two runs — one
earned — on four hits and four walks. He had eight strikeouts.
Corey
Buletza (fr. St. Clair/Pottsville)
went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Lightcap went
2-for-3 with three RBIs and one run scored.
Lightcap’s three
RBIs came on one hit, a bases-clearing double.
Quigley had an
RBI double.
SAT 4/26 - KU 8, West Chester 6 —
The Golden Bears held
off a late Golden Rams’ rally to complete their doubleheader sweep
at North Campus Field.
Buletza went
2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored.
Lightcap and
Kacelowicz each
scored two runs.
Derick Reis (sr. Jim Thorpe/Jim Thorpe)
started for KU, pitching 5 1/3 innings. He held West Chester to two
runs on four hits and one walk. He struck out four.
Quigley went

KU couldn’t hang on to
an early 3-0 lead, falling to the Wildcats 6-3 in the opening game
of a doubleheader at Wilmington Sunday.

had a run-scoring
single.
Quigley was

SUN 4/27 - Wilmington (Del.) 13, KU 11 —
Wilmington scored three
runs in the bottom of the fifth to break a 10-10 tie and complete
the sweep of KU. Andy

hit an RBI double.
Lightcap was

shot an 82 to lead KU to
a second-place showing at the Gettysburg Invitational Tuesday. KU
had a team score of 340 on the par 72, 5,801 yard course. Lehigh was
the team winner with a score of 325. West Chester was third with a
score of 399.
Petak’s score of
82 was good for a tie for third place.
Kelli
Pry (fr. Coatesville/Coatesville)
shot an 85 to tie for
sixth with
Samantha Rumbley (fr. Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright).

Arbogast led the
Golden Bears in a shutout win over the Red Raiders, pitching a
one-hitter in game one of their doubleheader at Robb Field.
Arbogast pitched
seven innings, limiting Shippensburg to one hit and two walks. She
struck out nine.

went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored, while

Denlinger and
Fitzgerald
powered the Golden Bears to a shutout win in five innings in the
second game of their doubleheader against Shippensburg.
Denlinger opened
the scoring with a three-run homer to deep centerfield in the third
inning.
Schiavo finished
3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Fitzgerald also
had three hits, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and one run scored.
SAT 4/26 - KU 4, West Chester 2 (9 inn.) —
The Golden Bears scored
two runs in the top of the ninth to defeat West Chester in extra
innings and clinch the PSAC East title.
Tedjeske and
Angela Domenici (fr. Kunkletown/Pleasant Valley)
each had RBI singles in the ninth inning.
Cameron,
Fitzgerald and
Schiavo each went
3-for-5. Morrison went 3-for-4.
Denlinger hit a
home run.
Arbogast
collected the win, pitching the eighth and ninth innings, holding
West Chester to no hits, while striking out one.
Monica Glomb (fr. Mars/Mars)
started for KU, limiting
West Chester to two runs on four hits and no walks.
SAT 4/26 - KU 6, West Chester 0 —
KU won game two of its
doubleheader with West Chester to set a new school record for wins
in a season with 44.
Tedjeske and
Morrison both
went 2-for-3 at the plate, with each having a single and a double,
and
Denlinger was
1-for-3 on game, and hit her 15th homer of the season.
Arbogast started,
throwing five innings, allowing three hits while striking out six.
Mary
Hoch (Somerton/St. Hubert’s)
tossed the final two innings for KU, and allowing one hit and
striking out three.

University in the semifinals of the PSAC tournament.

accounted for two of the
five wins for KU, as he teamed with

Labitsch (jr. Bruck an der Mur, AUSTRIA)
to secure a win in first doubles, 8-6. In second singles,
Sharma won 6-3,
6-2. KU won five of the six singles matches, as
Andrew Torrealba (so. Pembrek Pines, Fla./Chales Franasan),
Robert Zerwick (fr. Bowers/Kutztown),
Nick
Gallagher (jr. King of Prussia/Upper Merion),

all picked up victories.
SAT 4/26 - Bloomsburg 5, KU 1 —
Bloomsburg won three
singles matches and two doubles matches to end KU’s run of
conference titles in the PSAC finals.
Labitsch and
Sharma picked up
KU’s only win with an 8-5 defeat in the No. 1 doubles match. KU had
won the last four PSAC titles and seven of the last eight.

KU was swept in its
doubles and singles matches and fell to No. 5 California (Pa.) in
the semifinals of the PSAC Championships.
SAT 4/26 - Bloomsburg 5, KU 2 —
KU fell to Bloomsburg in
the consolation match of the PSAC Championships.
Rohini Das (so. Kolkata, INDIA)
and
Barbara Joerns (so. Ludwigshafen, GERMANY)
teamed up to win the No.
1 doubles match 8-4, and
Das
collected the a win in the No. 2 singles match, winning 6-1, 6-1.

THU 4/24 - KU women at Penn Relays —
The KU women’s track and
field team kicked off the Penn Relays for the Golden Bears
participating in three events at Franklin Field.
Stephanie Williams (sr. Harrisburg/Riverside)
placed 15th in the 3,000
with an NCAA provisional time of 9:58.78, the second-fastest time
ever in the 3,000 by a KU women’s runner. It was about one second
off the pace of the school record, 9:57.7, by Eunice Chege in 1997.
Her NCAA provisional time also placed her seventh on the current
NCAA list.
Ashley Pinter (fr. Bethlehem/Liberty)
had the highest finish Thursday for KU, placing 10th in the hammer
throw with a toss of 155-7. The 1,600 relay team of
Joanna Horstmann (jr. Downingtown/Downingtown West),
Heather Spangenberg (so. Clarks Summit/Abington Heights),
Laura
Deller (sr. York/Dallastown)
and
Katie
Colburn (fr. Hanover/South Western)
finished third in their
heat and 68th overall with a time of 4:00.20.
FRI 4/25 - KU men at Penn Relays —
The KU men’s track and
field team was in action at the Penn Relays Friday at Franklin
Field, placing two athletes and two relay teams in the top 15.
Justin Germani (fr. Birdsboro/Daniel Boone)
picked up the Golden Bears’ best finish of the day landing in
seventh place in the pole vault with a 15-7.
Steve
Tyson (sr. Bridgeport/Upper Merion)
finished 12th in the shot put with a throw of 49-1.
Justin Gibbs (sr. Pottstown/Pottstown),
Shane
Harvey (fr. Potterburg, N.J./North Hunterdon),
T.J.
Longmore (so. Manheim Twp./Manheim Twp.)
and
Vonkurt Redley (sr. Philadelphia/Cheltenham)
teamed up to finish 10th in the shuttle hurdles with a time of 59.70
seconds.

SAT 4/26 - KU men at Lehigh Games
—
Jim
Dart (sr. Havertown/Haverford)
broke the KU men’s track
and field record in the discus, leading the Golden Bears at the
Lehigh Games.
Dart
was third in the event, with a performance of 161-10. The mark
eclipsed the record of KU hall of famer Frank Williams, who set the
previous record in 1976 with a throw of-160-9. It was the
longest-standing record on the books at KU.
Dart’s throw also
was an NCAA provisional distance.
Jason
Rebuck (so. Southampton/William Tennent)
was fourth in the event
with a NCAA provisional effort of 160-5. In the hammer throw,
Rebuck was third
(163-9) and
Dart
was fifth (161-11). KU’s men won five events.
Steve
Hixson (sr. Coopersburg/Southern Lehigh)
was a double winner,
taking the 200-meter dash in 22.90 and the 400 in 50.26.
Chris
Boutsikaris (so. Andover, N.J./Newtown)
won the javelin (182-1)
and
Brian
Collier (fr. Norristown/Norristown)
won the triple jump
(43-8). Rounding out the firsts was the 400 relay team of
