THU-SAT 5/1-5/3 - at PSAC Championships in Lancaster, Pa.
THU 5/1 - Kutztown 4, Indiana (Pa.) 3 —
Philip Rummel (sr. Exeter/West-Mont Christian)
pitched a complete game to lead KU over Indiana (Pa.) in game three
of the PSAC Championships at Clipper Magazine Stadium.
Rummel struck out
six, allowing nine hits and three runs — all unearned.
Michael Dugan (r-fr. Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City)
and
Garrison Rausch (sr. Allentown/Parkland)
each had a hit and a run scored.
Brett
Wigder (fr. Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull)
was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Chad
Lightcap (jr. Boyertown/Boyertown)
was 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
THU 5/1 - Kutztown 9, Millersville 2 —
Mike
Kacelowicz (so. Orwigsburg/Blue Mountain)
was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and
Derick Reis (sr. Jim Thorpe/Jim Thorpe)
was masterful on the
mound to lead KU over Millersville in game six.
Kacelowicz had
three of KU’s 12 hits in the game.

FRI 5/2 - West Chester 1, Kutztown 0 —
A two-out single in the
eighth brought in the only run in West Chester’s shutout win over KU
in game seven of the PSAC Championships. KU pitcher
Darin
Gorski (so. Mount Joy/Donegal)
pitched eight innings,
allowing just one run on five hits. He struck out eight.
Mike
Kacelowicz led
the Golden Bears at the plate with two of their five hits.
Lightcap hit a
double, while
Quigley and
Rausch had
singles.
FRI 5/2 - Kutztown 8, Millersville 7 —
Quigley’s RBI
single in the bottom of the eighth inning gave KU a one-run,
come-from-behind win, allowing the Golden Bears to advance to the
championship round of the PSAC Championships.
Quigley finished
2-for-4 with three RBIs, including his first collegiate home run.
Dugan
finished 3-for-3 with two RBIs, while
Matt
Kulbacki (so. Hershey/Hershey)
was 1-for-2 with two
RBIs.
Jared
Frey (so. Mohrsville/Schuylkill Valley)
had an RBI double and
scored a run.
Corey
Buletza (fr. St. Clair/Pottsville)
scored two runs for KU,
while
Lightcap and
Mike
Kacelowicz both
went 1-for-4 with a run scored.
Ryan

was the winning pitcher, throwing three scoreless innings of relief.
Mertz got his second save with a scoreless ninth.
SAT 5/3 - KU 6, West Chester 2 —
KU defeated West Chester
to force a decisive game 11 at the PSAC Championships.
Mike
Kacelowicz was
2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs, while
Lightcap was
2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Frey
drove in two runs with a double.
Justin Jachowicz (sr. Summit Hill/Panther Valley)
was the winner, throwing
three innings of scoreless relief.
Rausch started,
allowing one run on seven hits in four innings.
Cassidy tossed
the final two innings.
Kulbacki and
Buletza each had
RBIs.
SAT 5/3 - KU 8, West Chester 7 —
Lightcap went
3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs to lead KU to the PSAC
title over West Chester.
Lightcap, who had
a double, also drew two walks and scored the game-winning run. He
was named the tournament’s MVP.
Quigley was
2-for-3 with an RBI and
Rausch was
1-for-3 with two RBIs.
Buletza had an
RBI triple and
Renda
hit a triple and scored two runs.
Mike
Kacelowicz went
1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.
Scott
Kacelowicz also
was 1-for-3 with a run scored.
Rummel picked up
the win in relief, pitching the final two innings.
Jason
Herr (fr. Harrisburg/C.D. East)
started and went 4.1
innings, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks. He struck out
three. It’s KU’s sixth PSAC title overall and fifth since 1999. The
win also secures KU’s eighth consecutive NCAA tournament berth via
the PSAC’s automatic berth in the field.

THU 5/1 - Kutztown 3, East Stroudsburg 0 —
No. 16 KU defeated East
Stroudsburg University in the opening round of the PSAC tournament
at Lawrence Field on the campus of Lock Haven University.
Steph
Denlinger (jr. Harleysville/Souderton)
and
Ashley Fitzgerald (Kitchener, ONTARIO/Resurrection)
hit back-to-back home
runs for the Golden Bears.
Denlinger’s home
run, a two-run shot, was her 56th of her career, tying the PSAC
career record for home runs set by Erica Miller (1998-’01), of
Bloomsburg.
Caitlin Hague (sr. Landsdale/North Penn)
went 2-for-3, and
Maria
Schiavo (jr. Old Forge/Old Forge)
and
Kathy
Gregg (sr. Narvon/Garden Spot)
each had a hit.
Schiavo scored on
Denlinger’s
homer.
Katlin Arbogast (so. Ambler/Wissahickon)
picked up the win,
pitching seven innings. She struck out eight batters and held East
Stroudsburg to four hits and a walk.
FRI 5/2 - Lock Haven 5, Kutztown 0 —
KU was shut out by No. 2 Lock Haven University in the second round
of the PSAC tournament. The Golden Bears were held to just three
hits in the game.
Kim
Morrison (jr. Newmarket, ONTARIO/Sir William Mulock)
had two of them and
Hague
had the other.
SAT 5/3 - Bloomsburg 2, Kutztown 0 (9 inn.) —
KU was eliminated from
the PSAC tournament by No. 8 Bloomsburg Huskies in nine innings.
Bloomsburg’s two runs in the top of the ninth gave the Huskies the
runs needed to advance to the championship game.
Arbogast pitched
seven innings and picked up the no-decision. She held the Huskies to
two hits and two walks while striking out six.
Schiavo and
Krista Tedjeske (fr. Summerhill/Forrest Hills)
each had two hits for the Golden Bears. Schiavo was 2-for-4, while
Tedjeske was
2-for-3.
Morrison,
Denlinger and
Hague
had the other base hits for KU.

THU-SAT 5/1-5/3 - KU men 4th/13at PSAC Championships
(Indiana, Pa.) —
The KU men finished fourth at the PSAC Championships with 92 points,
finishing behind PSAC Champion Slippery Rock (124.5). Lock Haven was
second with 108 points and Shippensburg was third with 101.5. East
Stroudsburg rounded out the top five with 89 points.
Jim
Dart (sr. Havertown/Haverford)
and
Chris
Boutsikaris (so. Andover, N.J./Newtown)
each won individual PSAC titles.
Boutsikaris
placed first in the javelin with an NCAA provisional throw of 204-7.
He also was third in the hammer throw (171-7).
Dart,
who also finished as an All-PSAC athlete in the discus, took the top
spot in the shot put with a throw of 52-5 1/2 — an NCAA provisional
mark.
Dart
was third in the discus (154-1) and fifth in the hammer throw
(160-5).
Steve
Tyson (sr. Bridgeport/Upper Merion)
was fifth in the shot
put (50-4 1/2) and seventh in the discus 142-1.
Jason
Rebuck (so. Southampton/William Tennent)
was fourth in the discus (147-6) and fourth in the hammer throw
(170-4).
Sam
Wall (so. Newville/Big Spring)
was seventh in the shot
put (49-3 1/2). Rounding out the field events was
Michael Kramer (fr. Pine Grove/Pine Grove)
with a seventh-place
finish in the long jump (22-5). He also was eighth in the 100 dash
(11.13).
Justin Gibbs (sr. Pottstown/Pottstown)
finished as an All-PSAC
athlete, as well, placing third in the 400-meter hurdles (54.02)
ahead of teammate
Vonkurt Redley (sr. Philadelphia/Cheltenham),
who placed fifth (54.23).
Redley added a
top-eight finish in the 110 hurdles, finishing fourth (14.90).
Shane
Harvey (fr. Potterburg, N.J./North Hunterdon)
was eighth (15.14).
Billy
Boorse (sr. Collegeville/Perkiomen Valley)
was fourth in the 800
(1:54.77), while
Kendel Dixon (so. Atglen/Octorara)
finished seventh in the
400 (48.93).
Dixon,
Redley,
Gibbs
and
Steve
Hixson (sr. Coopersburg/Southern Lehigh)
teamed up to run the 1,600 relay in 3:16.70, good enough for fifth
place. The 400 relay team, of

Peterson (fr. Kutztown/Kutztown),

Gibbs,
also placed fifth (42.21).
Ian
Clark (jr. Troy, N.H./Monadnock Regional)
was fifth in the
decathlon with 5,982 points.
THU-SAT 5/1-5/3 - KU women 4th/14 at PSAC Championships
(Indiana, Pa.) —
The KU women finished fourth at the PSAC Championships with 96
points behind Slippery Rock, which claimed the PSAC team title with
203.5 points. Lock Haven was second with 111 points and Shippensburg
was third with 107.5. East Stroudsburg rounded out the top five
(71.5).
Ashley Pinter (fr. Bethlehem/Liberty)
and
Stephanie Williams (sr. Harrisburg/Riverside)
each won individual PSAC titles.
Williams won the
10,000-meter run with a time of 35:41.72, which was an NCAA
provisional mark and her second straight outdoor title in the
10,000. She added another All-PSAC mark to her career, placing third
in the 5,000-meter run (17:49.15). She also placed fifth in the
3,000 with a time of 10:28.41.
Pinter won the
discus with a throw of 138-5, placed second in the shot put (42-4)
and finished third in the hammer throw (153-4).
Kristin Cupido (fr. Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan)
placed fifth in the 5,000 (18:06.26), seventh in the 10,000
(40:03.44) and eighth in the 3,000 (10:40.41).
Kelly
Strickland (so. Bear, Del./Caravel Academy)
finished second in the pole vault with a height of 11-5 3/4, while
Rachel Weigle (so. Red Lion/Red Lion)
was fifth (10-6) and
Alison Wise (so. Denver/Garden Spot)
was seventh (10-0).
Michelle Hughes (sr. Warminster/William Tennent)
was eighth in shot put
(39-7).
Laura
Deller (sr. York/Dallastown)
was eighth in the long
jump (16-9 1/4).
Katie
Colburn (fr. Hanover/South Western)
was fifth in the
heptathlon with 4,086 points and
Rebecca Kerchak (jr. Sinking Spring/Wilson)
came in eighth with 3,718 points.
Joanna Horstmann (jr. Downingtown/Downingtown West)
and
Keri Brown (fr. Southampton, N.J./Seneca)
both finished fifth in their respective distance events, with
Horstmann running
the 800 in 2:15.18 and
Brown
finishing the 1,500 in 4:45.87.
Christina Reimer (fr. Chester Springs/Downingtown East)
also had a fifth-place finish for KU with a time of 11:36.1 in the
3,000 steeplechase.
Samirah Barczynski (so. Mohnton/Governor Mifflin)
took fifth in the 100
dash (12.74) and
Heather Spangenberg (so. Clarks Summit/Abington Heights)
was eighth in the 400 (1:00.73). Both teamed up with
Jessica Donovan (jr. Newtown/Pennsbury)
and
Laura
Deller (sr. York/Dallastown)
to place sixth in the
400 relay (49.57).
Spangenberg also
ran in the 1,600 relay with teammates
Horstmann,
Deller and
Katie
Colburn (fr. Hanover/South Western),
placing fifth (3:56.26).
