Last Week’s Action

THU-SUN 5/15-5/18 - NCAA Division II North Atlantic Regional (at Pitt-Johnstown)

THU 5/15 - West Chester 5, KU 3 — A two-out, two-run home run in the eighth inning gave West Chester a come-from-behind victory over KU in game one of the NCAA Division II North Atlantic Regional at Point Stadium. Darin Gorski (so. Mount Joy/Donegal) took the loss, allowing five runs on seven hits. He struck out five. Mark Renda (r-fr. Lansdale/North Penn) was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while James Quigley (fr. Bensalem/Bensalem), Mike Kacelowicz (so. Orwigsburg/Blue Mountain) and Corey Buletza (fr. St. Clair/Pottsville) were all 2-for-5.

FRI 5/16 - KU 2, West Virginia State 1 Philip Rummel (sr. Exeter/West-Mont Christian) scattered 11 hits in a complete-game win over West Virginia State. Rummel allowed a leadoff hit in seven of nine innings, but only allowed one run. He struck out six. Rummel’s effort was aided by two double plays — both nearly triple plays — a pickoff, caught stealing and two runners gunned down trying to advance extra bases after hits. Garrison Rausch (sr. Allentown/Parkland) was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, while Quigley was 1-for-4 with an RBI double and a run scored. Jared Frey (so. Mohrsville/Schuylkill Valley) recorded KU’s other RBI with a hit. Michael Dugan (r-fr. Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City) and Buletza also had hits in the game.

SAT 5/17 - Pitt-Johnstown 8, KU 0 — Pitt-Johnstown collected an shutout win and eliminated KU in game eight of the NCAA Division II North Atlantic Regional. Quigley had three of KU’s five hits, all doubles. He finished 3-for-4 and was named to the all-tournament team. Buletza and Brett Wigder (fr. Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) accounted for KU’s other two hits.
