KU’s
Steph Grimm (sr. Fleetwood/Oley Valley) was the overall winner for the KU women’s team, finishing the
6,000-meter course in 25:00.0. KU scored 23 points, ahead of
second-place West Chester (32) and third-place Albright (83).
Maureen Watson (jr. Walnutport/Allentown
Central Catholic)
placed second in 25:29.
Jill Kostishion (fr. Hilltown/Pennridge)
was fifth in 26:31; followed by
Chelsea Ray (fr. Barnegat,
N.J./Barnegat)
in seventh (27:03) and
Lindsey Ray (fr. Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat)
in eighth (27:27).
SAT 9/6 - Men 2nd/4 at MAROON & GOLD INVITE

Ryan Reich (fr.
Oley/Oley Valley)
led the men’s team, placing third overall, with a time
of 28:32 on the 8,000-meter course.
Frank Nick (fr. Kintersville/Palisades)
was fifth in 28:44, while
Paul Kuehnle (fr. Saddle Brook, N.J./Saddle
Brook) was sixth (28:48). Rounding out KU’s five were
Jubilant Kunce (fr. Red Lion/Red Lion), who placed 21st in the scoring standings, 27th
overall, with a time of 32:23; and
Steve Guthrie (fr. Chester Springs/Devon
Prep)
who was 25th in the scoring, 35th overall, with a time
of 34:51. DeSales won the team title with 29 points, followed by KU
with 60, West Chester wtih 69 and Albright with 79.

WED 9/3 — EAST STROUDSBURG 3, KU 2 (OT) —
The Golden Bears lost an overtime PSAC East contest
against East Stroudsburg University at University Field.
Anne Waapu (so. Hastings, NEW ZEALAND) scored at the 3:55 mark off a corner and
Kelley Healey (sr. Toms River, N.J./Toms
River North)
made it 2-0 with 15:53 left in regulation. East
Stroudsburg, however, scored twice in the final eight minutes to tie
the game. The Warriors scored less than five minutes into the
overtime to win.
Abbey Sheeler (so. Fleetwood/Brandywine
Heights)
and Whitney Stum (sr. Landisburg/West Perry)
each had assists.
FRI-SAT 9/5-9/6 — J.W. Wesner Memorial Tournament
FRI 9/5 — KU 4, PHILADELPHIA 1

Waapu scored two goals and assisted on
another as the Golden Bears defeated Philadelphia University in the
opening game of the Joshua W. Wesner Memorial Tournament at
University Field.
Sheeler also had a goal and an assist.
Holly Hubbard (sr. Etters/Red Land)
scored off an assist from
Waapu and
Stum assisted
Sheeler on her goal.
Abby Rhone (fr. Chambersburg/Chambersburg)
took over in goal for KU to start the second half and
made one save.
FRI 9/5 — KU 8, BELLARMINE 0 —
Sheeler scored a hat trick in leading the Golden Bears over Bellarmine.

had two goals, while

added single goals.
Belfatti and
Healey also

Emily Falko (fr.

Rhone shared the shutout in goal.
Falko had three saves in 48-plus minutes.
Rhone did
not need to record a save as KU’s defense held the Knights to just
four shots in the game.
SAT 9/6 — KU 4,
CATAWBA 1 —
Sheeler netted two goals as the Golden Bears defeated Catawba College in a
rain-soaked tournament finale at University Field.
Belfatti gave KU the early lead, scoring in the ninth minute on an assist from
Waapu.
Sheeler made it 2-0 six minutes later with an unassisted goal
and extended the Golden Bears’ lead with her second goal of the game
at the 21:26 mark.
Kelley
Healey, who assisted on
Sheeler’s second goal, scored at the 60:32 mark to put KU up by four.
Now with 29 career assists,
Healey passes Shannon Dagget (1994-97) into sole possession of second place on
KU’s career assists chart. The record of 32 is held by Justine Baer
(1998-2001).
Falko played in the cage for the Golden Bears in the first half, making two
saves.

SUN 9/7 — KU 7th/12 at Bucknell Invite —
The Golden Bears shot a 683 to finish seventh out of 12
teams at the Bucknell Invitational at Bucknell Golf Course
(68-6,003). The Golden Bears, who golfed 36 holes Sunday after the
first round was postponed on Saturday, were one of two Division II
schools among nine Division I programs. Penn State finished first
with 610 and Youngstown State followed with 619. Rutgers had a 643
and Lehigh was four behind at 647. Bucknell, which had two squads
competing, had its “Orange” team finish fifth with 659. Catawba, the
only other Division II school at the invite, was sixth (678).
Kelli Pry (so. Coatesville/Coatesville) led KU with a two-round total of 164, including a
second-round score of 79.
Chelsea Corbo (fr. Harrisburg/Central
Dauphin East) had a second-round score of 83, leading her to finish
second on the team with a 170.
Samatha Rumbley (so. Bel Air, Md./C.
Milton Wright) posted a 174 and
Lauren Foulke (sr. Brockway/Brockway)
and
Krista Tressler (sr. Fayetteville/Heritage Academy)
each carded a 176.

The Golden Bears, in their first
Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East game in school history,
picked up a 1-0 win at Shippensburg University.
Rusty Chapel (jr.
Topton/Brandywine) scored the only goal needed, taking a
pass from
James Robinson (so.
Chester, ENGLAND). The Golden Bears were outshot 15-14 by
the Red Raiders, but for the four Shippensburg shots that were
directed on goal,
Matthew Fredericks (jr.
Montdale/Lakeland)
was there to make the stop. The shutout
is
Fredericks’ first of his career.
SAT 9/6 — EAST STROUDSBURG 4, KU 0 —
The Golden Bears struggled to match East
Stroudsburg’s offense in a messy, rain-soaked PSAC East contest at
Keystone Field. The Golden Bears were held to just six shots by the
Warriors, who had 16.
Fredericks made four saves for the Golden Bears.

A double-overtime goal in the 108th minute handed the
Golden Bears a PSAC East loss at Shippensburg. Shippensburg outshot
KU 26-4, but keeper

kept the Golden Bears in the game making eight saves.
SAT 9/6 — KU 1, EAST STROUDSBURG 1 (2 OT) —
The Golden Bears drew even with the undefeated East
Stroudsburg Warriors Saturday at Keystone Field.
Emily Froehlich (fr. Perkasie/Pennridge)
scored KU’s only goal, the first of her career, at the
7:15 mark. The unassisted tally, however, was equaled in the 26th
minute. The Golden Bears were outshot 21-9; however,
Addleman made 10 saves, seven of which came in the first half, to keep KU even
with East ESU.

WED 9/3 — Philadelphia Univ. 3, KU 0 — The Golden Bears lost in straight sets to Philadelphia University at the
Gallagher Center. Philadelphia won 25-17, 25-19 and 25-22 to hand
the Golden Bears the loss.
Katie Miller (jr. Elizabethtown/Elizabethtown) led KU with 11 kills and a block.
Jamie Celia (so. Douglassville/Daniel Boone)
had 24 assists and seven digs.
Lindsey Smith (fr. Hanover/Delone Catholic)
had 13 digs and a service ace.
FRI 9/5-SAT 9/6 — at Indiana (Pa.) Tournament
FRI 9/5 — KU 3, Point Park 1 —
The Golden Bears defeated Point Park in the opener of the Indiana (Pa.)
Tournament, taking the first two sets by scores of 25-23 and 26-24.
Point Park won the third set 27-25, but KU closed out the win with a
25-21 victory in the fourth set.
FRI 9/5 — KU 3, Indiana (Pa.) 2 — Indiana (Pa.) erased a 2-0 deficit, but the Golden Bears took the fifth
set 15-5 for a win at the Indiana (Pa.) Tournament. After winning
the first sets 25-17 and 25-19, the Golden Bears dropped straight
sets of 25-14 and 25-19. KU was led by
Kelsey Nester (so. Catasauqua/Catasauqua), who had 12 kills.
Miller had 10 kills.
Celia finished with 38 assists and 11 digs.
Smith led the Golden Bears with 27 digs.
SAT 9/6 — KU 3, Salem International 0 —
The Golden Bears edged Salem International in a close second set and ran
away with the first and third sets to win at the Indiana (Pa.)
Tournament.
Nester led the Golden Bears with six
kills and
Alex Thomas (so. Quakertown/Quakertown)
had 24 assists.
Danielle Ozment (so.
Reading/Holy Name)
had nine digs and
Smith
had two.
SAT 9/6 — KU 3, Lake Erie 1 —
The Golden Bears finished the IUP Tournament undefeated with a win over
Lake Erie. After taking the first two sets by scores of 25-11 and
25-14, KU dropped the third set 26-24. The fourth set was won by KU
25-17.
Miller led the Golden Bears with 14
kills and
Celia had 36 assists.
Smith had 20 digs and
Nester had nine.
