Cross Country
Last Week’s Action
SAT 11/1 — Women 3rd/16 at PSAC Championships (at Lock Haven)
— The KU women
placed three runners in the top 20 to score 115 points and finish
third at the 2008 PSAC Championships at Lock Haven University.
Shippensburg won the meet with 70 points and Slippery Rock had 73 to
finish second. Edinboro (115) was fourth, while Bloomsburg and
Indiana, Pa., tied for fifth with 159 points.
Joanna Horstmann (sr. Downingtown/Downingtown West),
Cristina Reimer (so. Chester Spring/Downingtown East)
and
Kristin Cupido (so. Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan)
all finished as All-PSAC
athletes for KU.
Horstmann, who
made it her fourth All-PSAC honor of her career in cross country,
led the pack of Golden Bears with a 14th-place finish (22:05).
Reimer was 19th
in 22:12 and
Cupido was 20th
in 22:13.
Kristy Ulrich (fr. Duncannon/Susquenita),
running in her first PSAC Championship meet, placed 27th with a time
of 22:35, just 22 seconds off the pace for an All-PSAC honor.
Hailey
Dell
(sr. Saranac Lake, N.Y./Saranac Lake)
was 35th, finishing in
22:56 in her final conference meet as a Golden Bear.
Lindsey Ray (fr. Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat)
and
Maureen Watson (jr. Walnutport/Allentown Central Catholic)
also ran for KU, placing
66th (24:13) and 75th (24:32), respectively.
SAT 11/1 — Men 11th/15 at PSAC Championships (at Lock Haven)
— The KU men
placed 11th at the 2008 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC)
Championships at Lock Haven University. Edinboro won the meet with
56 points, while Slippery Rock was second with 65. Lock Haven (85),
Shippensburg (100) and Bloomsburg (149) rounded out the top five. KU
finished with 307 points.
Kevin
Rodgers (so. Clifton Heights/Upper Darby)
was KU's top finisher,
placing 39th in 26:18.
Ben
Loht (jr. Lewistown/Indian Valley)
and
Ryan Reich (fr. Oley/Oley Valley)
finished 55th (26:45) and 56th (26:45), respectively.
Frank
Nick (fr. Kintnersville/Palisades)
placed 70th for KU, in
27:26, while
Jubilant Kunce (fr. Red Lion/Red Lion Area)
was 87th (28:37) and
Steve

in a PSAC semifinal at Bloomsburg University. IUP took a 2-0 lead

Chelsea Bressler (fr. Cleona/Annville-Cleona)
scored the game's only
goal to lead KU past Mansfield in the Golden Bears' regular-season
finale. The two teams battled to a scoreless tie at halftime and
Bressler scored
the game-winner for the PSAC playoff-bound Golden Bears at the 57:04
mark.
Steph
Addleman (fr. Chambersburg/Chambersburg)
had five saves to record her seventh shutout of the season, one shy
of KU's single-season record.

KU fell in straight sets
to PSAC East foe East Stroudsburg by scores of 25-17, 25-22 and
25-21. KU led both the second and third sets 16-11, but couldn't
hold on for the wins.

seven kills, along with two blocks.

SAT 11/1 — SHIPPENSBURG 3, KU 2 —
KU was edged out by
Shippensburg in a PSAC East contest at Keystone Hall. The Golden
Bears and Red Raiders exchanged wins in each of the first four sets.
KU took the first and third set by scores of 25-14 and 25-20.
Shippensburg won the second set 25-19 and the fourth 27-25 before
taking the fifth set tiebreaker 15-6.
Brittni
Speck
(fr. Hesston/Huntingdon)
led the offense with 10
kills and three blocks.
Snell
was solid at the net with eight blocks to go with her seven kills.
Celia
dished out 34 assists and had nine digs, and five service aces.
Smith
had 25 digs and two aces, while
Nester added nine
kills and 21 digs.

Invitational —
Kayla
Jones (fr. Johnstown/Westmont Hilltop)
set a new single game
school record with a 275 and placed fourth individually as KU placed
fifth at the Fairleigh Dickinson Invitational. Vanderbilt took the
top spot, while host Fairleigh Dickinson was second, New Jersey City
third, and Delaware State fourth. KU was 2-1 in baker matches on
Sunday in the playoff rounds after going 3-2 in baker matches Friday
and 1-4 in traditional matches Saturday. KU, ranked 16th in the
nation, defeated No. 1 Maryland-Eastern Shore twice in baker matches
Sunday, both times by scores of 4-0. New Jersey City handed KU its
only baker loss, 4-3 in the second round. Maryland-Eastern Shore won
968-926 in traditional matches Saturday against KU. The Golden Bears
also lost to No. 2 Vanderbilt (1,133-966), No. 9 Delaware State
(986-941) and No. 17 St. Peters (933-892). KU defeated No. 22 Morgan
State 934-767. Friday, KU defeated No. 19 St. Francis (730-639), No.
6 Sacred Heart (742-718), No. 15 Wisconsin-Whitewater (755-654). KU
lost in a close match 806-805 to No. 7 Fairleigh Dickinson and
756-683 to No. 13 Adelphi.
Jones
led the Golden Bears, averaging a 221.2 average. She also set a
school record with a 275 against Vanderbilt en route to an
all-tournament team selection.

placing 21st individually with a 191.2 average.

women had first-place finishers in 10 of the 14 events en route to
two wins at East Stroudsburg. The relay team of
Nikki

Stephanie Jeppesen (jr. Bethlehem/Liberty),
Jordan Shapiro (fr. Trenton, N.J./Princeton)

Allison Sheely (so. Enola/Trinity)

Sheely took first
