TUE 12/30 — KU 127, PENN STATE-ABINGTON 65 —
Stephen Dennis (jr. West Chester/Henderson)
led six players in double-digits as KU defeated Penn State-Abington
in a non-conference matchup at Keystone Arena.
Dennis
scored 23 points as the Golden Bears set a new school record with
127 points, beating the old record of 116, which was set against
Trenton State in 1960.
Ryan Washington (so. Philadelphia/Wissahickon)
and
Steve Coffey (so. Reading/Wilson)
each set career-highs in point totals with 21 and 14, respectively,
and
Mark Bower (sr. West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford)
tied his
career-high with 14.
Coffey
also had career-high marks in assists with six and rebounds with
five.
Bower
had a career-best 11 rebounds for the double-double.
Andre Woodlin (sr. Philadelphia/Central)
finished
with 18 points, and
Dave Ben (sr. Coatesville/Coatesville)
had 15.
With his 15 points,
Ben
moved into second place all-time on KU scoring list with 1,530,
passing Butch Hills (1985-89).
Ben
is now 152 away from tying the all-time leader, Lock Jennings
(1989-93). The Golden Bears shot 61.6 percent from the floor
(53-of-86), including 8-for-20 from 3-point range.
Omar Ford-Bey (fr. Chester/Girard College),
who had seven points, hit a 3-pointer with 3:21 left to push KU’s
point total to where it had never been before, giving the Golden
Bears a 119-58 lead.
SAT 1/3 — Gannon 88, KU 58 —
Ben
scored 21
points, but KU had its unbeaten streak stopped with a loss to Gannon
University at the Hammermill Center. The Golden Bears trailed 37-29
at halftime of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover.
Washington
scored 15
points and
Dennis
had 14.
Ben
also led the Golden Bears in rebounds with nine and free throws,
making 11-of-13 shots.
SUN 1/4 — Clarion 87, KU 85 — CLARION, Pa. —
A
buzzer-beater handed KU its second loss in a Pennsylvania State
Athletic Conference crossover match against Clarion at Tippin Gym.
The Golden Bears took an 85-84 lead on a foul shot with four seconds
remaining, but Clarion hit a 35-foot shot as time expired.
Ben
led KU with 24 points, shooting 7-of-12 from the floor and 10-of-15
from the foul line. He had three steals and three assists.
Dennis
had 18 points to go with his seven assists, six rebounds and three
blocks.
Washington
scored 15 points and brought down a team-leading eight rebounds.

Melissa McQuade (so. Pittsburgh/Shaler)
led the
Golden Bears with 20 points and nine rebounds. She was 7-for-11 from
the field, including 2-of-3 on 3-pointers and 4-of-4 from the foul
line. She also dished out five assists and had three steals.
Rachel Wisemiller (jr. Hazleton/Hazleton)
chipped in
15 points, four rebounds and three blocks.
Chauntelle Schroeder (jr. Toronto, Ontario/Mother Teresa Catholic)
notched 12 points and had seven rebounds.
Lara Dellegrotti (sr. Berwick/Berwick)
added nine
points and five assists, and
Vivian Melvin (jr. Chichester/Chichester)
had eight points and four assists.
SAT 1/3 — Gannon 98, KU 59
— KU could
not hold the potent offense of Gannon University, falling in a PSAC
crossover at the Hammermill Center.
Dellegrotti
hit five 3-pointers and finished with a team-high 18 points for the
Golden Bears.
SUN 1/4 — KU 87, Clarion 69
— KU had
five players in double figures in an 87-69 win over Clarion in a
PSAC crossover game on Sunday afternoon at Tippin Gym.
McQuade
led all Golden Bears scorers with 21 points, shooting 9-of-14 from
the floor. She also had nine rebounds, six on the offensive end.
Katie Dovey (jr. Willow Hill/Fannett-Metal)
scored a career-high 15 points, knocking down 3-of-4 shots from
beyond the arc.
Schroeder
notched a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Wisemiller
had 17 points and seven rebounds, and
Dellegrotti
netted 12 points, including a 6-for-6 showing from the foul line.
She also dished out four assists.

KU
finished fifth at the Ed Kennedy Memorial Meet in Fort Lauderdale,
Fla. Tufts University scored 212 points to win on the men’s side,
while St. Olaf (210), Middlebury (196), Bloomsburg (172) and KU
(170) rounded out the top five. The men’s top finish was third in
the 400 freestyle relay (3:54.87).

points, while Illinois State won the meet with 240 points.
Middlebury was second with 210 points. KU finished first in the
150-meter backstroke relay with

Nicole Hinsdale (fr. Glen Mills/Bayard Rustin)

swimming
the event in 1:40.69. The KU women also scored second-place finishes
in the 200 freestyle relay (2:02.44), the 150 breaststroke relay
(1:54.14) and the 400 freestyle relay (4:29.29).
