In a game
that featured 23 lead changes and 12 ties, East Stroudsburg
outlasted KU in the PSAC East opener at Koehler Fieldhouse.
Dave Ben (sr. Coatesville/Coatesville)
scored 24
points.
Stephen
Dennis (jr. West Chester/Henderson)
added 14 points and
Andre Woodlin (sr. Philadelphia/Central)
netted 11.
Ryan Washington (so. Philadelphia/Wissahickon)
led all
players with 17 rebounds and had five blocks.
SAT 1/17 — KU 88, MILLERSVILLE 65 —
Dennis
led four Golden Bears in double figures as KU rolled to a PSAC East
win over Millersville at Keystone Hall.
Dennis
scored a game-high 27 points as KU jumped out to a 50-27 halftime
lead.
Ben
inched closer to KU’s all-time scoring record with 19 points, and
pulled down 12 rebounds, 11 on the defensive end. He also finished
7-for-11 at the free-throw line.
Washington
had 16 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.
Woodlin
had 18 points.

WED 1/14 — KU 54, East Stroudsburg 49 —
KU opened up its PSAC Eastern Division slate with a win over East
Stroudsburg University at Koehler Fieldhouse. The Golden Bears were
led by
Katie Dovey (jr. Willow Hill/Fannett-Metal),
who had a team-high 15 points. KU made 16 free throws in the second
half to help the Golden Bears fend off the Warriors, who trailed by
14 at half.
Lara Dellegrotti (sr. Berwick/Berwick)
scored 10
points, including a 3-pointer and four free throws.
SAT 1/17 — KU 60, MILLERSVILLE 56 —
Rachel Wisemiller (jr. Hazleton/Hazleton)
scored 16
points as KU held off Millersville University for a PSAC East win at
Keystone Hall.
Wisemiller,
who also had six rebounds, hit a crucial 3-pointer with 5:53 left to
give the Golden Bears the lead for good at 53-50. The win snaps KU’s
15-game losing streak vs. the Marauders.
Chauntelle Schroeder (jr. Toronto, Ont./Mother Theresa)
finished with 16 points.
Meredith Starr (so. Richmond, Va./Monacan)
and
Wisemiller
hit consecutive pairs of free throws in the final 20 seconds to keep
the Marauders at bay. KU finished 17-of-22 at the line, including
Schroeder’s
10-for-10 showing. She also had seven rebounds.
Vivian
Melvin (jr. Chichester/Chichester)
scored 12
points, and
Melissa McQuade (so. Pittsburgh/Shaler)
had 10 rebounds, four assists and a steal for KU.

men's team dropped its PSAC meet at Bloomsburg.

first in the 100 back (54.89) and the 200 back (2:00.95). Another
individual first-place finish came from
Jeff Travor (so. Quakertown/Quakertown Community)
in the 200
IM with a time of 2:05.03. KU claimed the top spot in the 400 free
relay with the team of
Crellin,
Derek Orr (sr. Easton/Easton),
Steve Krater (jr. Port Carbon/Pottsville Area)
and
Gab Recio (so. Lancaster/Hempfield)
with a
time of 3:19.73.

led the KU
women’s team to a PSAC win at Bloomsburg University. Both
Shapiro
and
Jeppesen
won three individual events and a relay, as the Golden Bears won 12
of the 14 events.
Shapiro
won both the 100- and 200-yard backstroke, finishing with times of
1:01.93 and 2:12.48, respectively. She also won the 50 freestyle
with a time of 25.66 seconds.
Jeppesen
won the 100 breast (1:09.00) and the 200 breast (2:28.50), as well
as the 200 individual medley (2:16.25). Both
Jeppesen
and
Shapiro
teamed with
Laura
Heebner
(sr. Easton/Easton)
and
Allison Sheely (so. Enola/Trinity)
to win the
400 medley relay with a time of 4:10.08.
Heebner
also won two events, taking the 100 fly (1:02.63) and the 200 fly
(2:18.73).
Alex
Crigler
(so. West Lawn/Wilson High School)
won both
the 500 free (5:19.62) and the 1,000 free (10:55.26).
Sheely
also won an individual event, finishing first in the 100 free
(56.06).

picked up a major decision at 141 pounds, winning 10-1, while
Martinez gave KU
a 16-6 lead with a pin in 1:35 at 149 pounds.

used a late escape at
165 pounds to break a 4-4 deadlock and win 5-4.
