Stephen Dennis (jr. West Chester/Henderson)
led four
KU players in double figures with 28 points as the Golden Bears
defeated Cheyney at Cope Hall.
Dave Ben (sr. Coatesville/Coatesville)
scored 17,
Mark Bower (sr. West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford)
had 13 and
Andre Woodlin (sr. Philadelphia/Central)
added 10
for KU. Ben’s two free throws with 1:03 remaining gave KU the lead
for good.
SAT 2/7 — KU 93, EAST STROUDSBURG 70 —
Woodlin
scored a team-high 26 points and had 10 rebounds as KU defeated East
Stroudsburg University at Keystone Hall.
Ben
also had 25 points, including six 3-pointers.
Dennis
had 18 points for KU, which used a 25-7 run to take a 29-point lead
with 13:10 left.
Dennis
also had nine rebounds and six assists.
Woodlin
tied his career-high in assists with seven.

Rachel Wisemiller (jr. Hazleton/Hazleton)

scored 17 points and hit four 3-pointers as KU defeated East
Stroudsburg University at Keystone Hall.
Wisemiller’s
3-pointer with 10:43 left in the second half broke a 42-42 tie and
sparked a 9-3 run.
Schroeder
finished with 16 points and seven rebounds, and
Katie Dovey (jr. Willow Hill/Fannett-Metal)
had 13

— KU finished 5-5 and in
sixth place at the Capitol Classic. Fairleigh Dickinson finished
first, followed by host Delaware State. KU went 4-1 in individual
matches Saturday and 1-4 in baker matches Sunday. KU's only loss
Saturday was to Delaware State (1,041-878). The Golden Bears rattled
off consecutive wins over St. Francis (969-856), Coppin State
(917-779), Saint Peter's (845-713) and Howard (912-728). KU was led
by
Kayla
Jones (fr. Johnstown/Westmont Hilltop),
who averaged 199.2 pins in five games, with a game-high of 216 vs.
Coppin.
Jacquelyn Heimbach (sr. Easton/Easton)
averaged 186.8, boosted
by a 246 rolled against St. Francis. On Sunday, KU defeated
Maryland-Eastern Shore (807-754) and lost to Fairleigh Dickinson
(717-696) in four-game baker matches. In best-of-seven play, KU lost
to Maryland-Eastern Shore (4-3), New Jersey City (4-1) and Sacred
Heart (4-3).

men’s swim team defeated Rowan at Keystone Hall.

each took first in two events for the Golden Bears.
Crellin
took first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.41 and in
the 200 back with a time of 2:00.08. Taking second-place in the 200
back was
Scott Thomas (sr. Schuylkill Haven/Blue Mountain),
posting a time of 2:03.51.
Krater
claimed the top spot in 100 free (50.72) and the 200 free (1:49.19).
Derek Orr (sr. Easton/Easton)
was narrowly edged out by
Krater
in the 100 free, with a time of 50.74.
Lahovski
finished in first with a time of 10:12.38 in the 1,000 free. He also
finished in the top spot in the 500 free, posting a time of 5:01.40.
In the 100 breast,
Shedleski
finished in first with a time of 1:03.00. He also finished in first
in the 200 breast with a time of 2:18.28,
Jeff Travor (so. Quakertown/Quakertown Community)
followed
with a time of 2:19.46.

SAT 2/7 — KU 152, Rowan 104 —
The KU
women’s swim team defeated Rowan University 152-104 at Keystone
Hall. The Golden Bears extended their school-record in wins to 11.
The 200-yard medley relay was won by the team of
Allison Sheely (so. Enola/Trinity),
Stephanie Jeppesen (jr. Bethlehem/Liberty),
Nicole Hinsdale (fr. Glen Mills/Bayard Rustin)
and
Jordan Shapiro (fr. Trenton N.J./Princeton)
with a time of 1:53.38. Individually,
Jeppesen
also finished first in the 100 breast (1:07.98) and the 200 breast
(2:25.34). Also with two individual first-place finishes was
Hinsdale.
She took the top spot with a time of 2:02.45 in the 200 free, with
Kerry
Choplin (so. Thorofare, N.J./West Deptford)
in second
(2:03.88). Hinsdale finished on top in the 200 back with a time of
2:15.11.
Alex Crigler (so. West Lawn/Wilson High School)
took first in the 500 freestyle (5:23.93) and the 1,000 free
(10:52.80). In the 1,000,
Heather Wolkom (jr. Rumson, N.J./Rumson Fair-Haven)
came in
second place with a time of 11:09.38.
Sheely
came in first place in the 100 back with a time of 1:03.07,
followed by
Shapiro
at 1:03.48.
Sheely
finished first in the 100 free, posting a time of 55.74. Rounding
out the first-place finishers for KU were

Laura Heebner (sr. Easton/Easton).
Shapiro
took first in the 50 free (26.35), just ahead of teammate
Katie Kelly (so. Downingtown/Downingtown),
who had a time of 26.69.
Heebner
took the top spot in the 200 fly with a time of 2:17.97.

SAT 2/7 — KU women at DeSchriver Invitational (at East Stroudsburg)

Joanna Horstmann (sr. Downingtown/Downingtown West)
set a new
school record in the 1,000-meter run, placing first as the KU
women’s team competed at the DeSchriver Invitational.
Horstmann’s
time of 2:59.80 was good enough for the record and the only
first-place finish.
Melissa Fellenbaum (fr. Landisville/Hempfield)
and
Stephanie Grimm (fr. Fleetwood/Oley Valley)
had
second-place finishes for KU, with
Fellenbaum
scoring a 10-6 in the pole vault and
Grimm
running the mile in 5:25.60.
Cristina Reimer (so. Chester Springs/Downingtown East)
was fifth in the mile (5:29.54).
Brooke Mathews (fr. Reedsville/Indian Valley),
Katie Quinn (jr. Glenolden/Interboro)

had multiple top-eight finishes for KU.
Mathews
placed third in the 200 (26.89), sixth in the 55 dash (7.69) and
tied for fifth in the long jump (16-0).

was fourth in the 200 (26.93) and fifth in the 55 dash (7.62).
Costanzo
was fourth in the long jump (16-6) and fifth in the triple jump
33-8.
Quinn,
teamed with

Doofan Tor-Agbidye (sr. Stewartsville, N.J./Phillipsburg)

Rachel Hunte (fr. Chester Springs/Downingtown East),
placed second in the 1,600 relay (4:12.23).

a first-place finish and
Shane Harvey (so. Pattenburg, N.J./North Hunterdon)
had one of
five second-place finishes for the KU men’s team at the DeSchriver
Invitational.
Longmore
finished first in the 55-meter hurdles (7.98), ahead of second-place
finisher

was second in the pole vault (14-6), beating out teammates

who was fourth (14-6), and

who tied for eighth (13-0). The KU 1,600 relay team, comprised of

— KU dropped two
contests to Mercyhurst and Gannon. KU opened the tri-meet with a
21-17 loss to Mercyhurst and followed it with a 37-3 loss to Gannon.
Snyder, at 197
pounds, was the only Golden Bear to go undefeated on the day,
winning two decisions.
Snyder won a 10-6
decision to cut KU’s deficit to 18-17, but the Lakers sealed the win
with a decision at heavyweight. KU got a pin from
Martinez,
at 149, and
major decisions by
Paukovits, at
141, and
Sonny
Flood (sr. Southampton/William Tennent),
at 174.
Snyder won 6-4 in
the Golden Bears’ loss to Gannon.

Darin Gorski (jr. Mount Joy/Donegal)
pitch six solid innings and
Matt Kulbacki (jr. Hershey/Hershey)
hit a three-run home run, but it wasn’t enough as KU fell to Barton
in the first game of a doubleheader.
Kulbacki’s
three-run homer in the fourth, coupled with a two-run double by
Jared Frey (jr. Mohrsville/Schuylkill Valley)
in the fifth gave KU a 5-0 lead.
Gorski
held Barton at bay for five innings before allowing a run in the
sixth. He finished with four strikeouts and one run on five hits
over six innings.
Corey Buletza (so. St. Clair/Pottsville)
finished
3-for-4 with a runs scored, and
Mike Kacelowicz (jr. Orwigsburg/Blue Mountain)
and
Chad Lightcap (sr. Boyertown/Boyertown)
each had a
hit and a run scored.

who got the win,

shutout ball in relief, giving up just three hits over 3 2/3
innings.

each had home runs as the Golden Bears defeated Barton College.

recorded his first save of the season, pitching 2/3 of an inning.
His save gave the win to

in the fifth and two in the sixth to solidify a 4-2 win.

each had hits for KU.

were 1-for-3, with
Kacelowicz
hitting a double and scoring a run, and
