Men’s Basketball (28-4, 13-1 PSAC East)

SAT 3/14
— KU 99, West Virginia State 88 (NCAA Regionals)
—
Stephen Dennis (jr.
West Chester/Henderson) scored 31 points
against West Virginia State to lead KU to its first NCAA Division II
tournament win.
Dennis poured in 21 of his 31 points in
the second half.
Julius Gray (so.
Lincoln/Oxford) finished with 10 points.
Ryan Washington
(so. Philadelphia/Wissahickon) had 18
points and eight rebounds.
Andre Woodlin (sr.
Philadelphia/Central), who totaled 14
points — seven of which came from the free-throw line — led KU with
seven assists.
Dave Ben (sr. Coatesville/Coatesville) had
13 points and
Mark Bower (sr. West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford)
had 11, including two 3-pointers.
SUN 3/15
— KU 92, Indiana (Pa.) 86 (NCAA Regionals) —
Washington stepped up
big for KU scoring a career-high 28 points in a win over Indiana
(Pa.).
Washington shot
12-of-14 from the floor for the Golden Bears. Bower scored a
career-high 16 points.
Dennis
finished with 13
points and
Ben
scored nine, falling
just one short of 2,000 for his career.
Gray
had his second straight double-digit game, posting 11 points, with
one of KU's six 3-pointers.

FRI-SUN 3/6-8 — KU
11th/23 at Music City Tournament — KU
finished in 11th place at the Music City Tournament at Vanderbilt
University, after going 8-7 on the weekend. KU was 3-3 on Saturday
with wins over Southern University (854-844), North Carolina A&T
(818-739), and Arkansas State (964-904).
Steph Ray (so. West
Lawn/Wilson) led the Golden Bears with
1,122 pins knocked down over six games for an average of 187. The
Golden Bears topped Southern (4-0) and lost to Minnesota State (4-1)
before beating Southern (4-1) again to claim 11th place.

Steph Jeppesen at NCAA Championships (Houston) —
Steph Jeppesen
(jr.
Bethlehem/Liberty) set three school
records and earned All-America honors with her silver medal finish
in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:16.99). She also finished ninth in
the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:03.94 and 12th in the 200 IM
with a time of 2:05.42.

THU-SAT 3/12-3/14 —
Joe Kemmerer, Scott Snyder at NCAA Championships (Houston)—
Joe Kemmerer (sr.
Mountain Top/Crestwood) won all four of
his bouts at the NCAA Division II championships, winning his second
NCAA title at 133 pounds.
Kemmerer
started the tournament off with a 3-0 decision
and followed it up with a 4-2 win over a two-time national champion
on Friday.
Kemmerer won 1-0 in double overtime in the
semifinals and 3-2 in the final to win the title. He finishes 28-1
on the season and 60-4 at KU as a Golden Bear.
Scott Snyder (jr.
Slatington/Northern Lehigh) lost both of
his bouts at the championships.

KU defeated East Stroudsburg
in the first game of a doubleheader.
Darin
Gorski (jr. Mount Joy/Donegal)
pitched a three-hitter with seven strikeouts in the win.
Michael
Dugan (so. Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City)
hit a two-run home run.
James
Quigley (so. Bensalem/Bensalem)
was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and
Shayne
Houck (fr. Barto/Boyertown)
went 2-for-3 with a triple and a run scored.

— KU 4, EAST STROUDSBURG 1 —
KU finished the home sweep behind a home run from
Matt
Kulbacki (jr.
Hershey/Hershey) in the fourth.
Kulbacki
finished 2-for-3 at the dish, while
Quigley
added two RBIs and a single.
Adam Maini (jr.
Macungie/Emmaus) picked up the win on the
mound, allowing only one run on seven hits, while striking out four.
Mike Bucklin
(jr. Shillington/Governor Mifflin) pitched
a scoreless seventh inning for the save.

— KU 4, East Stroudsburg 3
— KU extended its winning
streak against the Warriors with a win in the first game of the
doubleheader.
Ryan Cassidy (jr. Langhorne/Archbishop Wood)
picked up the win, going
four innings and striking out seven.
Houck
was 1-for-3 with an
RBI and two runs scored and
Mike
Kacelowicz (jr. Orwigsburg/Blue Mountain)
was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Bucklin
sat the Warriors down
in order for the save.

— KU 3, East Stroudsburg 2 —
KU completed a four-game
sweep of the Warriors with a win Saturday afternoon.
Mark
Renda (so. Lansdale/North Penn)
went 1-for-3 with a run
scored.
Houck
was 2-for-4 with a
run scored and
Kacelowicz went
3-for-4 for KU, with a stolen base, two RBIs and a run scored.
Trent Mertz (so. Kutztown/Kutztown)
lasted five innings, while
striking out six.
Bucklin
pitched the final two
innings for the win.

— KU 10, West Virginia State 0 —
Steph
Denlinger (sr. Harleysville/Souderton)
hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning to break the NCAA
Division II home run record. The homer marked the 63rd of her
career, surpassing Jackie Aiken’s 62 which was set from 1994-1997 at
Wisconsin-Parkside.
Arbogast
set the school record
for career shutouts, earning the 20th of her career. She allowed
only one hit and struck out seven to receive her ninth win of the
season.
Reifsnyder was
3-for-3 at the dish, including a double and
McGinty
added a triple for
the Golden Bears.
SAT 3/14
— KU 13, Glenville State0 —
Glomb
pitched a one-hitter
in the Golden Bears win over host Glenville State on Saturday
afternoon.
McGinty,
Cameron and
Fitzgerald each had
two RBIs apiece.
Fitzgerald was
2-for-2, both hits being doubles, and
Tedjeske
was 2-for-4 with a
double.
