Last Week’s Action

       SUN 5/3 — Bloomsburg 8, KU 1 (at Lock Haven) — KU had its run for a first PSAC tournament title come to an end with a loss to Bloomsburg. Katlin Arbogast (jr. Ambler/Wissahickon) pitched six innings, allowing four runs on eight hits and three walks. KU’s lone run came when Krista Tedjeske (so. Summerhill/Forest Hills) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. KU loaded the bases on a single by Kim Morrison (sr. Newmarket, ONTARIO/Sir William Mulock), a walk by Steph Denlinger (sr. Harleysville/Souderton) and a two-out single by Krista Cameron (sr. Formosa, ONTARIO/Sacred Heart). Denlinger walked twice, and Maria Schiavo (jr. Old Forge/Old Forge) and Tedjeske each had hits for KU.

Outdoor Track and Field

       FRI 5/1 — MEN AT KUTZTOWN INVITATIONAL — KU had five first-place finishers as it hosted the Kutztown University Last Chance Invitational. In the long jump, teammates Matt Cannell (fr. Douglassville/Daniel Boone) and Robert Clews (so. Ashland/North Schuylkill) finished first and second, respectively. Cannell had a jump of 22-2 1/2 and Clews followed him with a 21-10 1/4. Cannell grabbed a third-place finish in triple jump with a distance of 42-4 1/4. Chris Boutsikaris (sr. Newton/Newton) nabbed a first-place finish with a distance of 186-5 in the hammer throw. Jason Rebuck (jr. Southampton/William Tennent) finished in fourth (173-4). Jack Iosue (fr. Manheim/Manheim Central) (180-1) and Boutsikaris (177-1) took second and third in the javelin. Rebuck took first with a throw of 155-1 in the discus and Rob Fitzgerald (fr. Philadelphia/Franklin Towne Charter) finished in third place (131-7). Rebuck took third in the shot put with a distance of 47-6 3/4. In the pole vault, KU had second and third-place finishes by Justin Germani (so. Birdsboro/Daniel Boone) with a height of 14-7 1/4 and William Hodges (jr. Levittown/Neshaminy) at 14-1 1/4. On the track side, Kendel Dixon (jr. Atglen/Octorara) took first place in the 400 with a time of 48.58. Behind him in third was Joe Tavormina (so. Hellertown/Saucon Valley) with a time of 51.81. Jason Rowles (jr. Broomall/Marple Newtown) finished in first place in the 400 hurdles with a time of 57.05 and finishing third was Chris Strohler (fr. Allentown/Salisbury) with a time of 58.40. Frank Nick (fr. Kintnersville/Palisades) was second in the 3,000 steeplechase with a time of 9:52.40. T.J. Longmore (jr. Lititz/Manheim Twp.) and Shane Harvey (so. Pattenburg, N.J./North Hunterdon) finished in second (15.00) and third (15.43), respectively.

       FRI 5/1 — WOMEN AT KUTZTOWN INVITATIONAL — KU was led by Ashley Pinter (so. Bethlehem/Liberty) at the Kutztown University Last Chance Invitational. Pinter swept all three of her throwing events. She had a throw of 129-1 in the discus, 40-5 in the shot put and 154-9 in the hammer throw. In the high jump, Amy Tucker (fr. Ridley/Ridley) won a jump-off with Katie Colburn (so. Hanover/South Western) to finish fourth and fifth, respectively (4-8 1/4). Colburn also placed third in the 100 hurdles posting a time of 16:22. KU swept the top three spots in the pole vault by Melissa Fellenbaum (fr. Landisville/Hempfield), Rachel Weigle (jr. Red Lion/Red Lion) and Kelly Strickland (jr. Bear, Del./Caravel Academy). Fellenbaum had a vault of 11-0 1/4, Weigle had 10-6 and Strickland 9-6 1/4. Alex Butler (sr. Montoursville/Montoursville) claimed the second spot in the long jump with a distance of 15-9 1/4. On the track side, KU placed in three of the top four spots in the 1,500. Stephanie Grimm (fr. Fleetwood/Oley Valley) took the top spot with a time of 4:49.10. In third and fourth, respectively, were Kristin Cupido (so. Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) at 4:58.60 and Hailey Dell (sr. Saranac Lake, N.Y./Saranac Lake) with 5:01.60. Katie Quinn (jr. Glenolden/Interboro) finished in first place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.36 and Sarah Messner (so. Maple Glen/Upper Dublin) finished in fourth place (27.45). Joanna Horstmann (sr. Downingtown/Downingtown West) finished second (2:13.21) in the 800. In the 400 hurdles, Lynn Lisofsky (so. Wilkes-Barre/James M. Coughlin) took second place with a time of 1:04.84 and Jessica Donovan (sr. Newtown/Pennsbury) took fourth at 1:06.51.
