FALL SPORTS

Cross Country

Last Week's Action

       SAT 10/31 - Women 5th, men 9th at PSAC Championship - Kristin Cupido (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) led the KU women, finishing in 21st place with a time of 23:50.3. Maureen Watson (Walnutport/Allentown Central Catholic) and Becca Brandt (Cleona/Cedar Crest) placed 25th and 26th, respectively. Watson crossed the finish line at 24:05.0 and Brandt shadowed her at 24:06.4. Keri Brown (Southampton/Seneca) and Cheryl Dingman (Lansdale/North Penn) rounded out the top five for KU. Brown (31st place) had a time of 24:17.6 and Dingman (44th place) clocked in at 24.33.6. On the men's side, Ben Loht (Lewistown/Indian Valley) was the first Golden Bear to finish with a time of 27:44.7 (30th place). Ryan Reich (Oley/Oley Valley) claimed 39th with a time of 28.12.3. Harry Latchford (Enola/East Penn) crossed at 28:30.8 for a 47th place finish.

Field Hockey (12-8, 4-4 PSAC East)

Last Week's Action

       FRI 10/30 - Shippensburg 2, KU 0 -  Emily Falko (Catasauqua/Catasauqua) and  Karly Waltman (Birdsboro/Twin Valley) split halves in cage for KU with each making one save. Breah Kinney (Forty Fort/Wyoming Valley West) made a clutch defensive save.

Women's Soccer (13-4-2, 8-3-1 PSAC East)

Last Week's Action

       WED 10/28 - Millersville 2, KU 1 - Stephanie Barnett (Blandon/Fleetwood) scored a goal in a double overtime loss to Millersville. Julia DiFerdinando (Chadds Ford/Garnet Valley) recorded the assist. Alyssa Hackelberg (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) made two saves in goal for the Golden Bears.

       SAT 10/31 - KU 1, BLOOMSBURG 0 -  Emily Froehlich (Perkasie/Pennridge) scored the game winning goal late in the second half against Bloomsburg. Chelsea Bressler (Cleona/Annville-Cleona) had the assist. Hackelberg made two saves to collect her 12th shutout of the season.

Women's Volleyball (15-11, 7-10 PSAC)

Last Week's Action

       MON 10/26 - KU 3, Bowie State 0 - Cali Snell (York/York Suburban) led the KU offense with eight kills in a win over Bowie State. Kimberlee Gomber (Washington/Washington) had 18 assists and 10 digs. Lindsey Smith (Hanover/Delone Catholic) had three aces and nine digs.

       FRI 10/30 - KU 3, CHEYNEY 0 - Brittany Harman (Hanover/Southwestern) led KU with kills in a win over Cheyney. Gomber added 20 assists.

       FRI 10/30 - KU 3, CHEYNEY 0 - Catie Leahy (Collegeville/Perkiomen Valley) and Katie Lutz (Greencastle/Greencastle Antrim) each had six kills in a win against Cheyney. Leahy also had two aces and six digs. Jamie Celia (Douglassville/Daniel Boone) had four service aces.

       SAT 10/31 - West Chester 3, KU 2 - Lindsay Confer (Wingate/Bald Eagle) tallied 25 kills and 15 digs in a loss to West Chester. Snell had 12 kills and two blocks, while Lutz added nine kills and four blocks.

Women's Bowling (9-9)

Last Week's Action

       FRI 10/30-SUN 11/01 - 4th place at Friday Night Invite - The KU bowling team finished fourth overall at the Fright Night Invite hosted by Farleigh Dickinson University. Kayla Stamm (Mohnton/Governor Mifflin) was named to the all-tournament team. Stamm had a Baker frame average of 22.3 in the anchor spot. Chelsea Adam (Reading/Exeter) averaged 190.1 in five team matches.

Women's Swimming (5-1)

Last Week's Action

       FRI 10/30 - KU 126, Alaska-Fairbanks 76 - Steph Jeppesen (Bethlehem/Liberty) was a double winner in the 100 freestyle (55.63 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (2:26.66) in a win against Alaska-Fairbanks. She also teamed up with Allison Sheely (Enola/Trinity), Katie Kelly (Downingtown/Downingtown) and Jordan Shapiro (Yardville, NJ/Princeton) to win the 200-medley relay (1:53.97). Shapiro was a winner in the 50-yard freestyle (25.82) and Kerry Choplin (Thorofare, NJ/West Deptford) prevailed in the 500 freestyle (5:23.66). Alex Crigler (Sinking Spring/Wilson-West Lawn) was a winner in the 1650 freestyle (18.21.29) and Lauren Malloy (Lancaster/Lancaster Catholic) won the 200-freestyle (2:01.04).

       SAT 10/31 - KU 128, Alaska-Fairbanks 71 - KU breezed by the Univeristy of Alaska-Fairbanks with numerous individual winners. Getting the victories were Crigler, Malloy, Shapiro, Nikki Hinsdale (Glen Mills/Bayard Rustin), Choplin and Jeppesen. In addition, Jeppesen, Sheely, Kelly and Shapiro also prevailed in the 400-yard medley relay in 4 minutes, 8.51 seconds.
