NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.
— The Kutztown University women's bowling team finished in
ninth place at the ECAC Championship in New Brunswick, N.J after
going 2-3 on the final day.
KU
(84-43)
dropped the first three matches, which were in baker-game format. The
first loss was at the hands of Morgan State by a score of 767-649.
The
second-place finisher, Farleigh Dickinson, topped the Golden Bears 848-805. KU led by five pins going into the final
baker game; however, a 239-191 advantage gave FDU the victory.
The
third match was a loss to tournament winner Delaware State by a
score of 789-645.
After
the first three matches, teams were seeded in bracket to determine
the final standings. KU entered ranked ninth and took on Howard
University. KU won 4-3, highlighted by 233 in the first
game and 209 in the second.
KU's
final match was a 4-1 win over Hampton to give the Golden Bears
their
ninth-place finish and putting Hampton at 10th. The Golden Bears
started off strong with a 256 and won the decisive fifth game with a
215.
KU was
led individually by
Stephanie Ray (so. West Lawn/Wilson), who averaged a 201 on
the weekend to rank eighth.
The Golden Bears will compete Friday
through Saturday in the Music City Tournament hosted by Vanderbilt.

— The Kutztown University women's bowling team picked up
four wins Saturday at the ECAC Championship in New Brunswick, N.J.
KU is
in ninth place with 5,303 pins. Steph Ray led the Golden Bears with
at 201.5 over six games, including a game-winning spare in the 10th
frame of their 874-861 win over Norfolk State.
KU
also defeated Howard 899-845, Coppin State 900-764 and Hampton
925-895. KU fell to nationally ranked Delaware State 908-845 and
Maryland-Eastern Shore 939-860.
The
Golden Bears will return to action on Sunday with five baker
matches.
