The Kutztown University women's bowling team went 3-3 on Sunday
afternoon at the sixth annual Holiday Collegiate Classic at Alabama
A&M.
The
Golden Bears (78-38) dropped their first two games against top-10
nationally ranked teams. No. 1 Vanderbilt won by a score of 839-780 and
No. 10 Alabama A&M defeated KU 924-805.
KU
followed with three straight wins, starting with an
835-823 win over Alabama State.
Stephanie Ray (so. West Lawn/Wilson) led KU with a 198 and
won the match in her 10th frame.
The Golden Bears topped
No. 12 Minnesota State-Mankato 933-861.
Kayla Stamm (so. Mohnton/Governor Mifflin) rolled a 224,
while Ray had a 193 and
Chelsea Adam (fr. Reading/Exeter) rolled a 190.
The Golden Bears
narrowly edged out Florida A&M by a score of 858-852, for their
third win of the day. Ray led the team with a 203, followed by Stamm
with a 193.
No. 3 Nebraska topped KU
1046-937,
Kayla Jones (fr. Johnstown/Westmont Hilltop) rolled a
team-high 232 in the loss.
The Golden Bears
finished the Classic with a 6-6 record. They return to action on
Friday in the ECAC Classic in New Brunswick, N.J.

of 16 teams Saturday at the sixth annual Holiday Collegiate Classic
at Alabama A&M.
Kayla
Jones (fr. Johnstown/Westmont Hilltop) led the Golden Bears,
who finished the day 3-3. Jones is third in the individual
standings, averaging a 214.1 over six games. She knocked down 1,285
pins for KU Saturday, with a high game of 234.
The Golden Bears (75-35)
opened the event with an 807-795 win over Grand Canyon State. KU
also defeated Bethune-Cookman 1,038-890 and Jackson State 959-816.
KU lost a few close
matches, including a one-pin loss to Arkansas State, 899-898. The
Golden Bears also fell 892-867 to No. 15 Wisconsin-Whitewater and
882-839 to Central Missouri.
