KU SWEEPS ON FIRST NIGHT OF NORTHEAST CONFERENCE MEET

WALLINGFORD, CONN. The Kutztown University women's bowling team swept their matches Saturday afternoon on the first day of the Northeast Conference Meet at Sacred Heart University.

The Golden Bears won the first match against Long Island University by a score of 1,715-950. KU won the team game 970-905 and all four baker games. Kayla Jones (fr. Johnstown/Westmont Hilltop) led KU with a 247 in the team game. Stephanie Ray (so. West Lawn/Wilson) was next with a 204, and Chelsea Adam (fr. Reading/Exeter) added a 199.

KU, ranked 16th in the nation, defeated No. 13 Adelphi 1,734-1,712. The team game score was 915-905, but Adelphi took three of the four baker games. Jacquelyn Heimbach (sr. Easton/Easton) rolled a 192 and Kayla Stamm (so. Mohnton/Governor Mifflin) had a 180 in the team games.

The Golden Bears topped No. 6 ranked Sacred Heart, with a team record breaking performance, with 1,984-1,768 total pins. Heimbach led KU with a 257, while Ray added 244 and Jones a 239. Stamm and Adams finished with 219 and 214, respectively, to put all KU rollers above 200 for the team game. The baker game was split 2-2.

The second day of the Northeast Conference Meet will take place Sunday at 9 a.m.
