ELMWOOD PARK, N.J.
— The
Kutztown University women's bowling team
finished the 2008-09 regular season in first
place of the Northeast Conference, finished 4-2
on Friday at Farleigh Dickinson.
The
Golden Bears (96-52) finished 15-3 in the
NEC ahead of Sacred Heart, Farleigh Dickinson
and Adelphi at 12-6. Sacred Heart holds the
head-to-head tiebreaker to finish in second with
FDU behind them in third.
KU
won a four-game Baker match against St. Francis
(N.Y.) by a score of 659-648. The Golden Bears
trailed 470-487 heading into the final match,
but a 189-161 was enough for the comeback win.
Host FDU topped KU 813-698 with FDU rolling
three 200-plus games in the win.
KU
followed the loss up with wins over Long Island
(654-437) and St. Peter's (747-723). In the win
over St. Peter's, KU used a 210-171 final game
to get the win.
A
play-in game between St. Peter's and Long Island
will take place Saturday morning, the winner
will advance to take on Kutztown in the first
round of the double elimination best-of-seven
Baker games. The semifinals and finals will take
place on Sunday.
