KU finishes as
runner-up at NEC Championships
ELMWOOD PARK,
N.J.
— The Kutztown University women's bowling
team finished as the runner-up at the Northeast Conference
Championship after falling 4-0 to Fairleigh
Dickinson in the championship match Sunday.
Fairleigh
Dickinson, which closed out the perfect weekend with a
sweep of the Golden Bears in best-of-seven baker
matches, defeated Adelphi Sunday morning to move
into the championship game of the double-elimination tournament.
KU opened the
tournament Saturday with a 4-2 win over Saint Peter's. The
Golden Bears then lost 4-0 to Adelphi before
bouncing back with a 4-0 win over St. Francis.
The Golden Bears
were one of three teams alive in the tournament
Sunday and had to win two matches against Fairleigh
Dickinson in order to claim the title.
Fairleigh
Dickinson scored better-than 200 pins in three out
of the four baker matches.
"They were just
outstanding," KU head coach Joe Ambrose said.
Kutztown finishes
the regular season at 98-54, including a 15-3 NEC
record.
