Kutztown concludes difficult day with
victory
ELMWOOD PARK, NJ (October 30, 2009) –
The Kutztown University bowling team ended a tough afternoon by
defeating Bethune Cookman College, 621-597, on the opening day of
the Fright Night Invitational hosted by Farleigh Dickinson
University Friday.
The Golden Bears won one of five Baker matches
against some stiff competition. Kutztown lost to fourth-ranked
Maryland-Eastern Shore, 838-710, fifth-ranked Delaware State,
831-734, ninth-ranked Sacred Heart, 728-655, and 15th-ranked
Wisconsin-Whitewater, 680-645.
“It was certainly a tough day for KU,” head bowling
coach Joe Ambrose said. “Our girls kept fighting and managed to win
our last match so we ended on a positive note. Lane Conditions were
very difficult for everyone.”
After the first day, the Golden Bears was in seventh
place in total pins.
The tournament continues Saturday morning at 9:30
a.m. with traditional team matches. The Golden Bears will battle No.
8 New Jersey City, Florida A&M, No. 3 and host Farleigh-Dickinson,
No. 16 Morgan State and No. 13 Adelphi.
